What about Jethro Tull? Didn't they win a Grammy once for best metal band?

That's a stretch. Even for Folk metal. Tull has their place on PA.

They did because the people there were idiots. I have that album (Crest of a Knave), and it isn't metal by ANY stretch of the imagination.

My Mom says I'm not an idiot, anyway, Aqualung sounds like Black Sabbath except the flute, but Tony Iomi played flute too, on one Sabbath song even, also Iommi played with Tull and maybe got some ideas for new heavy metal sound through jam sessions.

No one said you're an idiot - the Grammy people were, though.

Maybe the guitars are heavy with some of the same riffs, the song Aqualung with growl vocals and no more flute would be like metal or before metal, still if Grammys are idiots then award may be wrong as proof of heavy metal but jethro tull is good band with some metal and some flute both, but not wimpy flute like classical but maybe new category for heavy flute but maybe tull is seen better without the flute and more heavy so forget the flute and hear heavy metal guitars on aqualung or when Iommi was member of Tull.

For crying out loud, that year Jethro Tull won over METALLICA.... Now, who's more metal, JT or Metallica? And, for your information, I am a huge fan of Jethro Tull (saw them three times, and am going to see them a fourth in the summer), and have nearly all their albums. They could be VERY heavy ("Aqualung" is proof enough of that), but that doesn't mean they're metal. I hope I made my point clear.

I really don't think they belong here. Some heavy edges don't make a metal band.

OK it is deicided that jethro tull is no good but I still like them but metallica is better band for grammys and should be added soon maybe on front page or top of page first as best metal band, later when there are so many bands and nobody knows what is happening somebody add jethro tull and no one notices but not added by me anymore.

Jethro Tull.... metal?
Sorry bro, I love JT to death, but we might as well add Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Pink Floyd, and Kansas if we're going to call Jethro Tull metal. |

It is hard to stop because computers move so fast so excuse my rapid speech for typing but I have said I will not add jethro tull for being determined idiots and not worth metallica as favorite metal band but still think about it, someday there will be so many bands that some may not notice if confused tull fan might think of metal due to grammy awards for idiots and add tull when nobody notices.

I'm not sure if you came here from PA, but if you didn't, it's the sister site to this one.
If Jethro Tull is your love, the site below will do ya real good.

Genesis could almost make it here for "The Knife" King Crimson for "Red" and most trio era Pink Floyd for "The Nile Song" |

That Grammy was a mistake, and is considered to be such by many people.
Jethro Tull wasn't there for their own award because even THEY knew better. So no, JT, while an excellent band, does not belong on MMA. |

They're related; Tony Iommi once played guitar for them, which explains the uncanny Tull-like sounds on Sabbath's debut.
