My suggestions are: Veni Domine, Helstar, Destiny's End, the first album of Heir Apparent, Lizzy Borden and of course any album from Armored Saint.

I had mentioned Brainstorm (Ger) on my Powermetal list, which features the awesome vocalist
from the original Ivanhoe line-up and Symphorce "Andy B. Franck". Though both Brainstorm and Symphorce are in the "Nevermore" realm of sound and Ivanhoe w/Franck sounds like early "Dream Theater" . Really good stuff Littlebig Also mentioned: Masterplan are really good, and Time Requiem, both are a bit more proggy than the Average Powermetal Band. Ivanhoe debut album . . . Andy on Vocals (His voice is much more refined now these days): Excellent Brainstorm Album: (This album has some really great vocals on the Heavy Ballads too!) And Symphorce: And . . . Heres Time Requiem: (Get ready for some Keyboard Madness!) And Masterplan: |

have you checked out MASTERPLAN? features Roland Grapow, ex-Helloween, and the amazing JORN on vocals. One of metal's most under-rated singers. link for Masterplan: http://www.loudtrax.com/Artist/Masterplan
or their website: http://www.master-plan.net/
Time to be King is a great album, as is "Aeronautics" |

More of Italian Power Metal bands have Maiden, Helloween and Grave Digger in mind. So this fact isn't incredible.

Manowar are great
Actually Helloween's 'Jericho Walls' is incredible isnt it? One of the best i have heard in Power metal.
Victim of fate, Murderer and Starlight are mandatory. You would no doubt have these but so incredible.

Actually Lucas has 100 % Polish blood flowing in his veins, therefore he doesn't have any celtic roots... |

Lucas may be French but if I'm not mistaken, the French have celtic roots just like us Scots. And frankly, me being Scottish, I actually do that >

Dont forget "Vanderhoof" and "Hall Aflame" Lucas
Though Fusion King may like Metal Church and Presto Ballet, I think of Metal Church more of a Thrash structure. And Presto Ballet and (the 1st version) Vanderhoof as Hard Rock/Heavy Metal-Post Prog like Deep Purple and Uriah Heep ("Retro-Prog" is another term I've been hearing as well). I also like the "Reverend" albums from former singer of Metal Church the Late/Great David Wayne! Great Thrash albums, but are hard to come by (and Wayne-"Metal Church"). Shadow Gallery is awesome too, but I think of them coming from the "Dream Theater" school of Prog Metal (Lemur Voice, Divine Regale, Mayadome, The Quiet Room, Digital Ruin, the 1st 2 albums of Ivanhoe, and tons more). The vocals of Mike Baker are sorely missed Rest in Peace. But still, excellent picks from Lucas . . . and glad you liked the "Viking" FK though I picture you as a "Scottsman" painting your face and doing this But . . . back to the Powermetal . . . The guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof deserves a mention here.
First with Metal Church : what an incredible band !!! ('the dark' is somewhere between power metal and thrash metal) : but most of all the following song is one of the best metal songs ever and could be a metal anthem : Then with Presto Ballet : Another band that is worth mentioning : Shadow Gallery (here is a video for a song from 'carved in sand' but the most power metal-sounding album is 'tyranny') : RIP Mike Baker |
