It's hard again but which one of these hybrid sub-genres do you prefer? Sure, it could be a much longer list with a lot more included for example Crustgrind, Death 'N' Roll, Dojin, Ambient-Noise, Thrashcore, Hardcore Punk, Blackened-Doom etc, but let's not get too complicated

For me, it's either folk black or death doom. Funeral doom kicked me over the edge into death doom.

I like a good number of those combos. The one I usually have a harder time with is Power-Prog. While I'm usually not a fan of that combo, I can dig bands that blend power and thrash or speed like Nevermore, Sanctuary, or Control Denied. Also, I have somewhat of a difficult time sifting through drone-doom and tech/djent-type bands before finding one I like. Besides that, most of the above combos seem to work for me at a good rate.

Thrash-power for me. Like Helstar - Nosferatu, Sanctuary or Agent Steel.
I think there's no such thing as a speed metal genre. Speed meant fast and there are very few bands that could not fit into the thrash metal or power metal genres. After thrash got established as a genre (around 1986 I would say), speed was used mostly as a prefix for thrash and power metal bands. PS: Love thrash/death as well, or deathrash... Morbid Saint, Sadus, Demolition Hammer, Torture Squad's Pandemonium to name a newer one... although I count all of the above as thrash albums primarily. But those few years where the line between death and thrash was a blurry one..? Great stuff!

Hard to choose, considering I appreciate listening to music under cross-genre influences, more or less. Prog-power metal does tend to get to me most of the times. And as I understand by my taste, power metal for instance, is like licorice. It's likely not to my taste but when mixed with different flavours and I'm more likely to enjoy it!

Completely going against what I said in the progressive subgenres poll, but prog/power fits my taste the most from that list, although I nearly went with folk black. folk power would have been a contender if it was there as well.

Hard to choose. I'll go Stoner Doom I guess, since I'm enjoying the new Down EP so much this week.
But I guess Alternative-Prog would be my main choice. Bands like Rishloo, Jurojin, Fair To Midland, Coheed And Cambria and Radiohead are all floating my boat at the minute. |

I find the lack of crossover thrash disturbing...
