I just finished watching another horror classic:
Halloween (1978) I was actually very disappointed with this one. It was still okay, but I didn't think it was scary at all, the acting was mediocre, and the character development was so lousy that I genuinely didn't give a damn what happened to any of the people. Maybe I had to be there back in 1978 to really understand what's so awesome about this film, but I found it to be a dated and sub-par horror movie. |

I was home sick today and watched this one:
The Devil's Own (1997) A decent film, but nothing really special. Harrison Ford's performance was great and the last half hour was excellent as well; it's a fairly average drama, but it's got enough interesting things to make it worth seeing. |

I finally saw this one today:
Zombieland (2009) This movie is awesome. It's one of those movies that, while it might not be particularly stunning from an artistic perspective, is one of the most entertaining I've ever seen. This is a tremendously fun film that I highly recommend. |

There was no school yesterday due to snow day, so needless to say, I decided to stay home and have a LOTR marathon.

Not a whole ton really, although there was freezing rain so buses were cancelled.

I saw this tonight in the theaters:
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) I thought it was a very good movie that definitely lives up the LOTR franchise, but I think it's mildly disappointing when compared to the original trilogy. It seemed a bit too drawn out IMO - I think The Hobbit novel could've easily fit into one movie (like all of the other LOTR books) rather than being spread out throughout multiple films. |

Oh yeah...she is the neighbour that turns into a zombie right? Actually I just talked the wife into seing Zombieland tonight, so Ive just seen it again. She found it rather amusing even though she normally wouldnt watch a movie like that.

^ Yep! And that's great! There are quite a few girls I've talked to who are usually repulsed by gory movies and "guy humor", but really enjoyed that one - definitely a testament to how great it is!

Just came back from The Hobbit.
After reading the book, the movie pretty much turned out like I expected. I enjoyed it. I was hesitant upon learning that this would be made into a trilogy despite the book being not very long, but not much in the movie seemed too drawn out.

I loved this movie so much. With all of the bad reviews, I was expecting it to be worse than the original trilogy, but this may be my favorite one. The amount of detail Peter Jackson puts into everything is great. The camera work was great, the scenery was beautifully done. If there had to be one flaw, I still don't like how it's trying to appeal so much to kids. Make it a bit darker and rated R and that will be awesome. But the other movies fell victim to this too, so it's not like this is just the Hobbit's fault. Also, the last 1 minute of the movie could have ended better. Overall, the ending was kinda cheesy. But it's LotR, you expect there to be some cheese. The fight scenes were pretty cool too. All the scenes were so well done, honestly. Peter Jackson and the actors were so good. |

You do realize The Hobbit was originally written as a children's book right? Edited by IMPF2112 - 21 Dec 2012 at 2:34pm |
