Here's a lineup of some of the biggest Swedish acts whose most popular works were straight-up death metal; but when choosing your choice I'd like you to take the broader part of the band's discography into consideration, not just their most popular one (yes, I'm pointing my finger at Edge of Sanity's Crimson).
Throw down!

Are we talking the Swedish heavy/power/prog metal act Evergrey? Then they are most definitely not death metal.
My vote is between Entombed and Edge of Sanity. Both bands have been important on the scene and to my personal development as a musician. Both bands have released absolutely brilliant releases (Entombed: Clandestine, Wolverine Blues and Edge of Sanity: Unorthodox, Crimson) but theyve both released some rather unremarkable material too. Since Clandestine is among my alltime favorites I guess Ill go with Entombed.

A lot of those bands have pretty extensive discographies, so it's a tough call for me. Hell, the most consistent band of the bunch might be Grave, even though they don't really have a crown jewel like most of the other bands in the poll. It's probably between them, Entombed, and Dismember for me. I haven't heard much of Dismember outside of Like an Everflowing Stream though, and Enthomed's whole death n' roll period was a bummer, so I guess I'll go with Grave.
In any case, Swedish death metal=win. Edited by Diogenes - 02 Jun 2012 at 9:26am |

I have to choose from one of these bands, based on their whole discogs? Impossible., So I'll choose Amon Amarth since they don't have a vote yet, and I really like them.

Edge of Sanity for me (like that was a surprise!). Crimson is probably my favorite death metal album, and I also adore Purgatory Afterglow, Unorthodox, and Crimson II. One of my favorite bands irrespective of genre.

Yeah, I should have thought of that. I just think that's a better album than a lot of people give it credit for, which tends to happen when there's an all-time great in the band's discography.
