Weakest Ghibli film so far. Still OK, wouldn't have sold me an anime had this been my first though. Good film, just not sure it really needed to be four hours long. A fraction of the actual battle of course but as a movie it seems too much. This is an odd one. A brief glimpse of a devastated 2024 before rewinding back in 1988 and what seems to be a crime/mystery story, before jumping ahead to 1997 and then again to 2006, gradually becoming fully-fledged science fiction. It's not a bad movie but I feel like it should have been fleshed out a lot more and may have functioned better as a TV mini series.

Nice sci-fi anime. Another weird one. Not exactly as I expected it to be. Very good Korean film. An earlier one from recent Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho.

Very good film noir movie from Anthony Mann who I know best for his westerns, which are often underappreciated gems. Finally saw the first entry of the Vengeance Trilogy. Very good movie as expected. Excellent French neo-noir/polar movie. The black and white film keeps the original film noir vibe very much alive here. Very twisted thriller. Apparently Hitchcock had his eye on making this but missed out on the rights. Still definitely one to watch for Hitchcock fans. It's Cronenberg so you expect a certain level of weirdness, though I do find him more accessible than certain others like Lynch. Good movie, makes you really question what is real and what isn't. A decent drama. Mainly watched it because Fritz Lang is in it playing himself. A 1920 silent gem. Looked great on blu-ray.

Very strange one. One of those movies that probably needs a second viewing to really get it. Very good sci-fi horror. A gem, underappreciated upon it's original release. The only thing it suffers with in 2020 is that it is set at the turn of the millennium, the then five years ahead future and like a lot of sci-fi that we've 'caught up with' it was over generous on the level of technology predicted to be available at the time. But this doesn't detract from what a bloody good movie it is. Hands down best sci-fi movie I've seen in a while. Two more movies and I hit 2000 total movies seen.

Good Japanese crime/psych drama with comedy elements. Quite the hidden superhero gem. There are two sequels as well but I find myself disinterested in those without Neeson in the title role. Also, Darkman marks my 2000th movie seen!

^Yeah and it´s Sam Raimi movie as far as I remember. The closing scene also reveals Darkman´s face to be that of Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Ash vs Evil Dead...etc.).

My first movie on the journey to 2500 movies seen and it's also the longest I've ever seen: 5 hours, 15 minutes. And it's never not compelling.

Devil Dog: The Hound From Hell - A made for t.v. movie about a family that takes in a German Shepherd and its possessed. Its got some creepy parts and the dog never attacks anyone, it uses mind control.

A good anime companion to the TV series. Contrary to reports this does not take place between season 1 and 2 though but is set one year after the flashbacks of season 1, so a while before Kovacs went into storage before his season 1 release. It's basically a gangster movie within a sci-fi setting.

Great film. A strange and gory mix of Cube and Snowpiercer.

Not sure if this is considered a TV movie or just an extra long episode, but whatever. The guest stars acting isn't that great here which does let it down, but the core cast are brilliant as ever. Laughing out loud right through. Apart from better guest actors the only thing they really got wrong was Holly's return. He was only in the first act and the climax of the movie and spent all of the former reset to factory settings without any of his classic personality.

Over the last three days: two re-watches in preparation for the third.
The whole trilogy had abundant writing issues, from rehashing the glories of the original trilogy to leaving too much unexplained, but it's all pretty fun I think, including #9 (which for all people like to rag on Ep9 is actually the lest rehashed movie of the 3).
