Anime gets on my nerves, and it seems to always be somewhat... stupid...

It's not Miyazaki but have you watched Grave of the Fireflies? It's easily the most heartrending movie I've ever seen. |

Entertaining, but not more than that. I expected a more filthy, dark and desolate world.

I like Ben Croshaw's analogy: "I watched an anime once. Guy pulls a gun at the start of the episode, fires it at the end, and everything between is angst. I wouldn't mind, but he missed."

I watched the remake of Star Trek last night. It was pretty good but I'm not a fan of the series in general, so I don't know how it sits with hardcore Trekkies.

Assuming you're referring to the film that came out in 2009, I was quite pleased with it. And I'd consider myself to be a rather strong Star Trek fan.

That is indeed what I'm talking about. I just wasn't sure how the alternate reality thing went over with Star Trek fans.

I think that the 2009-Star Trek was entertaining, but it never felt like a real Star Trek movie.
I saw Piranha 3D yesterday.... worst piece of shit movie I've ever seen. |

one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen. Also just finished: another mindfuck by Mr. Lynch.

How was it? I only ever watch terrible movies via MST3K.

It's laughably bad, which is a fucking better than just plain bad.
And tonight, trying to catch up on Bruce Lee. This one was pretty good. The only other two I've seen with him are Fists of Fury (The Chinese Connection and Enter The Dragon. |

I guess that pretty much leaves you with The Way of the Dragon (aka Return of The Dragon). Game of Death uses some actual Bruce Lee footage, but the mainly work around using doubles. There is a documentary that shows the Game of Death footage with Bruce in it uninterrupted and more true to his image that is enjoyable.

I still have so many episodes to see. Also, after watching the show ages ago, I finally got around to this: |
