Yeah its strange that the perspective actually isnt that great, when the rest of the picture is so well drawn.

Here's a new song: Definitely fucked up like Portal usually is.

Though I'm not really into this scene anymore, not nearly as much anyways, I still like to listen to good ol' fashion DM once in awhile(usually when I'm piss drunk!) to fill my more 'carnal' audio needs...though perhaps 'ol' fashion' isn't the most appropriate term as this also include some blackened DM as well more of the technical/progressive stuff....
Anyways, here are some of my favorites.... Death - 'Symbolic', 'The Sound of Perseverance' Behemoth - 'Demigod', 'The Apostasy', still checking out others though Morbid Angel - 'Altars of Madness', 'Blessed Are the Sick', 'Covenant', 'Domination' Decapitated - 'Organic Hallucinosis' Cynic - 'Focus', 'Traced in Air' (wasn't sure to put this here or in the prog metal appreciation thread...both I guess? lol) the occasional Atheist as well, and Opeth too I guess...perhaps there's a few others I'm forgetting, but in any case, those are some of the faves I know I'll enjoy on a heavy does of inebriation... |

I have Outre and I could never quite get into it, but I should re-listen to it at some point. That stuff sounds pretty fucked up - and good!!

Portal (not the Cynic-side outfit) make "Ghost" seem like kids in Halloween costumes .
See write-up . . . Sounds more Grindcore than just Death Metal, pretty brutal.

That implies punk influence, which I sense none of in Portal.

Dead Eyed Sleeper is such a good band. When I heard their 2011 album I thought they'd become pretty popular very soon, they're still severely underrated though. |

I've always considered Portal as a Blackened Experimental Death Metal band . Having blastbeats doesn't make a band Grindcore. This be Grindcore influenced. This be not so much Grindcore influenced. |

^ I listened to it tonight. Double CD was too long for me. Would think there's a very good CD worth of material. It is better than TPB but is not their best. However I would stress I am not a 'fan' of this style so your opinion could very well be different. 3-3.5/5 after one listen

I used to be a fan of Soilwork, but only for a short period of time. They bore me a little today...which doesnt mean I cant hear the qualities of their music and why they appeal to other people...

Modern versions of OSDM don't get much better than this. The production does this extreme amounts of justice. In my own words as a title for a draft review that has gone unfinished for quite a long time (and will probably stay that way for a while longer thanks to school work so don't be expecting): "Azrael's Pimped-out Steamroller".
