I really enjoyed this for what it is, a big budget B-movie. There's some excellent underwater shots and effects, and the scientifically impossible shark is bloody brilliant too. Also love it that Cliff Curtis was able to use his normal Kiwi accent.

Well that was terminally bloody boring. This movie was a flop when it came out, and I'm not surprised, when about a third of it was dedicated to a surgical procedure.

This was fucking good! I might have seen it many years ago, but don't really remember it. Still holds up reasonably well 40 years on. A lot of people are critical of the actors' accents, but putting on fake Russian accents would have been cringeworthy.

What? Not exactly sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.

Ray Harryhausen's monsters steal the show here, quite easily.

There's nothing like a 70s car chase movie.

This has to be one of the biggest steaming piles of crap I've ever seen. My gut instinct was to switch it off before even twenty minutes had elapsed. I should have trusted my gut.

I wouldn't call it great either, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the star and makes it watchable.

Okay I guess. Wouldn't recommend it, but I at least didn't see the plot twist coming, even though in hindsight there were obvious hints.

Haunted house malarkey. Again watchable, but not recommendable. Even as this type of movie goes, it struggles to be believable not because there are ghosts, but how readily the general community accepts that there are ghosts there.

This was good. Based on actual events and quite eye opening.

The first and only film of director Hu Bo, who committed suicide after finishing it. It's just shy of four hours long, but uses it's runtime well. My biggest complaint is that it seems to spend an ungodly amount of time using camera angles that following the characters from behind, leaving regular views of people's backs. Confused

Not side-splittingly funny, nor slasher flick gory, but this was still a fun movie.

Steve McQueen at his best. Based on a true story, but passed through both the filter of the original writer and the film makers. Still, pretty fucking brutal in places, and the inspiration for Megadeth's Devil's Island.

I watched Papillon, so I just had to watch Bullitt for some more Steve McQueen. A bit of a slow burner at times, it's rightly famous for greatest car chase ever filmed. Interestingly, none of it was filmed on movie sets, and large parts of San Francisco were shut down to film the car chase, which took three weeks to film.

Watched this one yesterday while lying hungover on the couch. I´ve seen it before and although it has its moments (I like the opening scene and the fact that the movie is set in the future), there are several parts of the movie that I don´t appreciate. One of the things is the way random fires are used to light up otherwise dark night scenes. Why would someone light a fire in the open, when there are terminators around? It´s also a bit too clean and stylized, which is an issue I have with many post-apocalyptic movies. That´s why I hold The Road in such high regard. It´s more realistic and believable. I know a Terminator movie doesn´t have to be believable in the same way, but I miss the grit and despair of the first movie, which is still a classic all these years down the line.

As far as 80s teen mvoies go, I think I identify more with this than The Breakfast Club or Ferris Bueller. Winona Ryder and Christian Slater are excellent as a tragi-comic couple, and you could see Shannen Doherty was going to go somewhere too.

OK, not my usual sort of thing, but Annette Benning and Julianne Moore together? Brilliant. Mark Ruffalo wasn't too bad either. The story is pretty predictable, but it's done well, and this has a great soundtrack too.

I found this among the saddest movies I've ever watched. It's a look at Turkish culture, but the film didn't go over so well with the Turkish audience, which accused the film of being inaccurate and orientalised.

Not really a movie about metal, but a movie about processing grief and loss with a metal soundtrack. Well worth a look.

Lots of blue. Lots of cliche. Lots of stupid. Lots of yawn.
