This is a list that I could just go on forever with. But, if I had to narrow it down to just say "5" albums, this would be a very good attempt (and a hard attempt at that!)
-1: Nehmah - Light Of A Dead Star -2: Branikald - Рдяндалир (Rdyandalir) -3: Chaos Moon - Languor Into Echoes, Beyond -4: Kristallnacht - Of Elitism And War -5: Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta I: Fathers Of The Icy Age There are so many more that could be interchangeable with the last two. But at this moment in time, they'd be the last two I'd go with. |

Recently picked up the Drought EP from Deathspell Omega which is excellent. The debut from Dutch band Dodecahedron is fantastically horrible and worth a listen, albeit not necessarily a classic. Also Riitiir from Enslaved and L'Arrive De La Terne Mort Triomphante by Gnaw Their Tongues have been getting "rotation" on my ipod recently.

A Riitiir fan... I love that one too. Great album that was actually chosen as album of the year 2012 by our collabs here on MMA: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5840

More importantly, you're a fan of Paysage d'Hiver, Darkspace, and Blut Aus Nord. Best three bands on that list I'd say.

Would love to have any recs based on my above tastes. |

Came across this old topic while browsing so I thought I'd post an update. Of these from my old post, I'd still rank those Immortal ones pretty highly, in fact most of these I still highly regard. A couple of been knocked down slightly in ratings though. Others that would definitely feature in a list of my favourite black metal releases are: Aquilus - Griseus Burzum - Hvis lyset tar oss & Filosofem Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult - Hora Nocturna Fen - Epoch & Dustwalker Hail Spirit Noir - Oi Magoi Kvist - For kunsten maa vi evig vike Mare Cognitum - Phobos Monolith Panopticon - Kentucky Progenie Terrestre Pura - U.M.A. Saille - Irreversible Decay Winterhorde - Maestro Wodensthrone - Curse

I wouldnt know too much about the black metal scene but I've been listening alot recently to Bathuska, and the mighty Zeal & Ardor album.
That Zeal & Ardor album is like something I've never heard before, I love hearing stuff like that
