Yeah, TDK definitely feels more like a crime movie than most superhero films do, which is probably a good thing. TDKR is a bit more over the top, from what I remember, but it still lacks the in fighting crap, or melodrama, which is what I tend to hate.
I think in general I prefer superheroes in movies over TV shows, at least the more self-contained ones, because they don't have as much time they need to fill in with useless crap. Edited by DippoMagoo - 10 Oct 2018 at 3:56pm |

Second watch. I saw it some months back on Prime and finally tracked down a DVD copy yesterday. Though it (probably intentionally) looks very B-movie, this is easily one of my favourite sci-fi films and definitely my favourite John Carpenter work.

Yesterday:
Solid remake but I felt the plot was simplified compared to the original. Decent neo-noir crime film. Today: This is one of those films that I appreciated a whole lot more with a second watch. Another re-watch; great action movie. Re-watch. Holds up for me. A masterpiece to my eyes. Flew by in spite of a near three hour length.

Solid film, though maybe a little overlong. The kind of comedy everyone seems to hate. Way OTT of course and probably should be described as being in the 'so bad it's good' category, but overall I think people just need to lighten up. Solid, silly fun from start to finish. Good coming of age style drama. An absolutely brilliant war film. The 2.5+ hour duration just flew by.

I was kinda worried going into this that it would end up being one of those films that ended up feeling underwhelming after reading so much hype. Glad to see that it wasn't. Found myself holding my breath more than once in this one - don't recall the last time a horror movie did that.

A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, though I did prefer the first two films.

Another odd sci-fi movie (the other being The Bad Batch), which I didn´t enjoy much starring Suki Waterhouse. But it´s definitely not because of her, that I didn´t enjoy this one . Oh well the movie is sort of a mix between Mad Max and an obscure 80s sci-fi Flick titled Cherry 2000, but it doesn´t Work well and I was kind of bored and annoyed by the bad acting and silly lines:

Highly disappointing after the original trilogy. Not terrible by any means but still, surely this was meant as an exercise in how to make an ultimately pointless movie? Because that's all it is. Hopefully 'Jason Bourne', the fifth and most recent movie that returns Matt Damon and the actual title character to the series, is a return to form.

Expected a lot more from this. Maybe the humour just hasn't aged well for anyone born after it was made, but only a few moments raised even a slight smile from me. Honestly found it to be a load of crap otherwise that I only kept watching because I was sure a movie of its reputation had to get better. It didn't.

Second viewing. I didn't actually realise until this week, although I knew that the writer (also director of this one) was the same, that this, Sicario and Hell or High Water form a thematic trilogy. Loved all three films but I think this one has to be my personal favourite.

Definitely a better Jesse James movie than the severely overrated 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford'. I liked the authentic touch of casting the four sets of brothers with four actual sets of brothers.

Another previously unseen classic taken off my watchlist. Loved this one, though I thought the end was a real downer.
