I love Celtic Frost and I was really disappointed when they broke up, especially with how good Monotheist was. Tell us what your favourite Celtic Frost album is.

I've only heard 'Vanity/Nemesis', and really enjoyed it. I'm going to have to listen to the rest of their albums before I vote.

Probably "To Mega Therion" (but I´m a huge Obituary fan, and this album is the prime influence on that band, so I´m probably a bit biased ).

'Vanity/Nemesis' often gets unfairly grouped together with 'Cold Lake'. 'Vanity/Nemesis' is actually a very good album, I think. It's not their best album (that has to be 'To Mega Therion', 'Into the Pandemonium', or 'Monotheist'), but, for a very long time it was my favorite CF album.

For me it's a tie between Monotheist and To Mega Therion. I'll vote the former just because it has less votes.

^^^ yes, Vanity/Nemesis may not be as groudbreaking as most of their other albums but it's a really solid heavy album and certainly no Cold Lake soundalike.

Monotheist should have been called Monolithic....it's an epic slab of metal. |

I beg to differ: "Into the Pandemonium" is my choice.

In Tom G. Warrior's own words, "it's a piece of shit". Have never actually heard it myself. I voted To Mega Therion. It's just the most influential of the lot. Vanity/Nemesis was a very brave album after the Cold Lake disaster, and Warrior said it was highly influenced by The Beatles. Luckily I can't much hear that influence myself. Monotheist is so fucking heavy it's almost unbelievable. I didn't expect much from it, after such a long break, but wow... I found a CD version of all the Hellhammer demos a few years back. They are for fans of lo-fi production only, but you can definitely hear the amazing music starting to take form under all the noise. If anything, those demos were even more influential than the Celtic Frost albums.
