I really love Living Colour's thrashing songs, so I was wondering if there are any other bands that have combined thrash with funk. Here's examples of what I'm talking about for those who haven't heard Living Colour:

Scatterbrain
Mordred (they used to perform naked painted blue, but not in this video) Infectious Grooves (if nothing else, this shows how wasted Robert Trujillo's are in Metallica) There's always Bad Brains, but their discography is quite large and varied, and I wouldn't know where to start. That's me about tapped. I did my best to avoid funk metal back in the day... |

^Those all sounded really good, especially the Scatterbrain song which was certainly pretty humorous. Also, I never realized how great Trujillo is, as like Newstead you can't really hear him that well in Metallica. I'll have to explore those bands more tomorrow.

I'm familiar with Act III, great album. Thanks for reminding me of that song though, forgot about that one!

I remember Mordred and Infectious Grooves, here's another funk/thrash band - Ignorance, from the UK.
I have only vague memories of them myself, they released a couple of albums on Metal Blade back in the day. They weren't bad but weren't particularly mind blowing either. BTW I loved Scatterbrain. The first (and only) time I ever stage-dived was at a Scatterbrain gig in NYC, during "Don't Call Me Dude." :D Edited by keefer1970 - 19 Jul 2017 at 2:32pm |

^Scatterbrain is so underrated, I'd love to see them get back together. Funk metal needs to make a comeback.
Here's a band I just discovered, Scat Opera. Imagine RHCP meets Faith No More meets Nuclear Assault: |
