Looking for metal, any sub, that incorporates any non-associated genre that you normally wouldn't associate with metal, with the caveat that it works.

There's UneXpect, who combines metal with circus music:
Also death metal bands like Atheist have had jazz in their music. Can't think of any others.

Well, Mr Bungle of course, Unexpect, Pryapisme, Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Sigh, Fantômas, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Ephel Duath, Shining (the Norwegian one), Buckethead, Praxis, Naked City, Rhapsody, well lots of progressive and folk metal. I could go on and on but this is what i can come up with off the top of my head

This is a pretty good list of music that combines 2 or more genres

Khaliq hit the nail on the head by mentioning Unexpect. I immediately thought of them when I saw this thread's topic. Mr. Bungle and Sigh are other (previously mentioned) bands that quickly came to mind... Sigh is a particularly strange band that touches on virtually every genre imaginable while staying loosely rooted in black metal.
A few other that come to mind are... Arkan - Interesting mix of melodic death metal and Middle Eastern folk. Salam (2011) is a great album, but Sofia (2014) relied much more on gothic influences and didn't do much for me. Haven't heard their debut yet. Panopticon - Black metal meets bluegrass/country. Strange combination, but it works... |

...Spheres by Pestilence is another good one. Lots of jazzy rhythms, strange guitar synthesizer melodies, and spacey imagery. It's unlike anything else I've heard, and it's my favorite "jazzy death metal" album.

Blood Stain Child's later albums have electronic dance influence....there's also Xe-NONE which is essentially "dance metal".

Crossfaith comes to mind. Japanese Metalcore mixed with Electronic music.
As other's have mentioned, Unexpect, Diablo Swing Orchestra and Sigh are all pretty valid picks. Stuff like Babymetal as well. You could always look into Devin Townsend's material, he's done a lot of everything. |

This thread is evidence metal can do whatever it wants. I love it.
I'm not sure if it's considered bizarre, but there's symphonic metal. Epica - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR6aKhnAcFA After Forever - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnNQpPW6ofc Xandria - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5Fkcsn2c24 Edited by Antlered Doom - 04 Jan 2017 at 4:16am |

It doesn't get any wilder and include as many different music genres with metal as does this one
