Metal fans being more loyal to their music is pretty spot on. I always find it funny how music that gets in the charts here in the UK is supposedly so good only for the albums to wind up in charity shops within a few years. Metal albums (rock too) turn up much more rarely. I manage to pick up maybe one or two a year in such places. I think that metalheads in general, at least the ones I've spoken to, are much more attached to physical formats than followers of chart bothering genres are.

Can't argue with that. I know from the people I know that fans of less mainstream music are far more likely to go out and buy an album where as our other friends who know sod all about music apart from what's in the top 30 singles spend zilch on music.
