For the first time ever I find myself half way though the year with sod all new albums to talk about. I put this down to my being much more into movies for over a year now, but I'm starting to feel like checking out some new releases again.
Anyone got any recommendations? Most of you know I like a little of almost everything metal, plus hard rock.

I've hardly been following new releases lately. I've picked up a few new ones from bands I've followed for years (Dream Theater, Avantasia and a couple of others) but I've reached a realisation point where I already own so much and sometimes years are going by when even my favourite albums aren't getting played. I've enjoyed more rediscovering recently in other words. I expect I'll check out more before the year is over though.

These are the ones I´ve listened to and reviewed so far (in no particular order):
1. Soilwork - Verkligheten
2. Dream Theater - Distance Over Time 3. Legion of the Damned - Slaves of the Shadow Realm 4. Fallujah - Undying Light 5. Opprobrium - The Fallen Entities 6. Malevolent Creation - The 13th Beast 7. Overkill - The Wings Of War 8. Queensrÿche - The Verdict Out of those I can recommend Overkill and especially Soilwork. The latter is another brillant example of how good they are. I´m not even a huge fan of Soilwork, but damn this is high quality music.
Other than those I can definitely recommend the debut from Vltimas, which features David Vincent (Morbid Angel) on vocals. That´s a really good death metal album.

Albums I could see you liking:
Allegaeon - Apoptosis Blazon Stone - Hymns of Triumph and Death Diviner - Realms of Time (Hard edged heavy/power metal.) Kull - Exile (Excellent symphonic black metal.) Paladin - Ascension (Hard edged power metal, with thrash and melodeath elements.) Pythia - The Solace of Ancient Earth (New singer, but the music is still similar to previous albums.) Tyr - Hel |

I echo Jonas's rec of Overkill's 'The Wings of War' and Soilwork's 'Verkligheten'. Quality stuff! Other stuff I'd recommend are: Rotting Christ - The Heretics Possessed - Revelations of Oblivion Starkill - Gravity Possibly Smoulder's 'Times of Obscene Evil and Wild Daring' as well, I'm not entirely sure...I need to give it a few more listens before I can really say. I myself haven't listened to that many releases this year, though I do have list of ones I'd like to check out.

My 3 favourite albums of 2019 so far are from Vltimas, Wormwitch and Possessed. All worth checking out. Also worth a listen - Malevolent Creation, Paladin, Firespawn, Darkthrone, Acid Death, Grand Magus and 1914 (that was late 2018 but I only added them here a couple of weeks back).
I seem to remember you like Purson Adam. Well Rosalie Cunningham has her debut solo album out this month. There's a couple of pre-release tracks you can hear.

I'm woefully not checking out too much new metal this year.
So far i like.... Deathspell Omega - The Furnaces of Palingenesia Waste of Space Orchestra - Syntheosis Batushka - Panihida Gloryhammer - Legends From Beyond The Galactic Terrorvortex Funereal Presence - Achatius Arch / Matheos - Winter Ethereal Possessed - Revelations of Oblivion Helium Horse Fly - Hollowed Pensees Nocturnes - Grand Guignol Orchestra Amon Amarth - Berserker have heard a few more and probably forgetting some but basically i'm finding metal is somewhat of a slump and i much prefer exploring the bands and albums that i've missed from the past.
