A new year with hopefully loads of great albums to come. Which metal/rock bands do you think we'll get new albums from in 2021?
For definite I'm looking forward to new albums from Asphyx, Tribulation and The Dead Daisies (now with Glenn Hughes on vocals). All 3 due end of January to early February. I also think one from Carcass at some point is a certainty. I'm pretty sure We'll get one from Immolation at some point and Blood Ceremony must be due another by now but haven't heard anything. Hopefully covid won't hold too many back.

I have pre-orders on two already (both costing me nothing thanks to free Amazon gift cards from Gener8): Transatlantic and Epica.
I'm hoping Blind Guardian may manage a normal album this year.

Eyehategod have a new album coming out in March which I am looking forward to. Mastodon, Gojira and Meshuggah are also very likely to release new material this year (I already have a ticket for Meshuggah's December gig at Glasgow's Barrowlands - whether that will be able to proceed or not is obviously still a massive maybe). I was also most excited to read in an interview with Luc Lemay earlier this year that he has been penning material for a new Gorguts album. I got the impression it was in the early stages so I'm unsure if that makes it more likely to be 2022 at the earliest.

Which version of the Transatlantic album are you going for ? I'm going for the extended versions and may get the shorter version one later if they seem sufficiently different. I did toy with thidea of the box set but £90, hmmm.

I forgot Melvins also have one coming in February. I do hope it will lean to their sludgier tendencies.

That's very true Patrick. Equally prolific and strange.

Same. They aren't releasing the Ultimate that I know of on CD, only vinyl, so that wasn't an option for me. It will be interesting to hear both versions. The single disc one seems to have longer cuts of some tracks on it compared to the double.

New Rob Zombie and Front Line Assembly are the only sure albums I'm looking forward to so far. I was hoping for a new Chevelle and deadmau5 (Did get an amazing new BSOD EP at least) album last year, but maybe this year they'll deliver.

It'd be nice to see new albums from Striker, Argus and Iced Earth. Unfortunately thanks to Jon's little debacle a new IE album isn't probably going to come out anytime soon.

The ones I've left in your list above are all definite buys for me. Already have the Asphyx album which is very good though not their best. I didn't know Judas Priest were working on a new one but always an essential buy for me.

Well, you know how some of those successful bands are. They announce that they are working on a new album and then take their sweet time because they have complete freedom to do what they want. I'm not holding my breath but classic bands like Judas Priest are certainly mandatory buys.

Stu Block just quit, so..... Arjen Lucassen announced on his Facebook that he's working on a third Star One album, possibly releasing this year, though he doesn't want to rush it. I found Transitus lacking in memorable metal sections, or just memorable songs in general, so this has me excited, and is exactly what I wanted from him, right now. Apparently, he says it'll be a mix between the heaviness of Victims of the Modern Age, and the catchiness of Space Metal (though I found Victims pretty damn catchy, tbh, so I'm confused there), but with one big change: There will be only one vocalist per track. For Ayreon, that would be disappointing, but I think it can work fine for Star One. Definitely my most anticipated album, aside from maybe the new Epica.
