The four horsemen of groove metal, representing the traditiok, the expectatiok, the aggression and the progression. Which of these awesome bands do you like the awesomest.

I´m not really a fan of Lamb of God, but I like the other three. Since you put an emphasis on the groove part of the bands sound, I won´t vote Sepultura, as it´s the thrash metal part of their sound I enjoy the most. Gojira is a band I enjoy, but Pantera is a band I worship, so naturally I´ve voted Pantera.

Pantera. Always the first band I think of when it comes to groove metal.
Sepultura I also like a lot and unlike many I tend to favour Derrick Green's era which is primarily groove metal orientated, but there's no contest with Pantera. I have a couple of Lamb of God albums and they are a band that I'd file under 'guilty pleasure', meaning I tend to enjoy them much more than I think I should do. Gojira on the other hand is a band I should probably know better.

For me it's Gojira any day of the year. They've become one of my favourite metal bands in recent years.
Having said that, I only know a handful of albums from the other 3 so perhaps my vote is skewed. |

It has to be Pantera but the other 3 have all released great albums.

Sepultura. Saw them live a couple of years back and they were awesome.
Also saw Pantera, of whom three quarters were awesome and their singer was a stumbling drunk fuckwit. Love Gojira, but really wouldn't have considered them groove metal. Lamb of God... yeah, no thanks.

I think most people who saw Pantera live from the mid-90s onwards saw a drunk and heroin drugged Phil on stage rambling nonsense for minutes at a time between tracks. He was a mess in those days. I saw him with Down maybe 6-7 years back, and he ruled the stage and performed really well.

All great bands. Sepultura, Pantera and Gojira have all time favorite albums but Lamb of God is probably the most consistent over the long haul. I voted for LofG since nobody else did. All four bands rank high in my world.

all of them are certainly very cool with their respective characters, but pantera is more interesting in my opinion.. especially when viewed from the history and revolution of his music journey!
