Ayreon gets my vote.
I very much like The Gathering's album "How to Measure a Planet?" though. On another note, it's interesting to me how the country of China has a population of 1.34 billion people, yet I'm not familiar with any Chinese artists (non-metal artists included); and how the country of the Netherlands only has 0.02 billion, yet I'm familiar with all of the Dutch artists in this poll and more (Autumn, Dial, Stream of Passion). Considering China's very large population, it seems like there would be a large number of artists in the country. Edited by cold103 - 11 Apr 2010 at 11:00pm |

Focus
I'm only really familiar with the Gathering out of these, very rarely I put their albums on.

The Gathering for me, though they were really only metal for the first 4-5 albums. Epica a very close second and then After Forever behind them. Not really a WT fan and I hate Ayreon.

From the list The Gathering. I also like NovAct and Suncaged who aren't listed.

All held equally for me:
Cirrha Niva - Awesome debut last year
Day Six - new album due mid-year and can't wait
Sun Caged - Seconding John, also have an album to look forward to this year.

How so? He hasnt changed his sound since Into the Electric Castle, and thats just streight prog metal in the vein of DT that they perfected several years before he came along. |

Not a big fan of most of that list. The Gathering is okay but the rest I really don't like at all.
I guess I'll pick other. Give me Netherlands death metal in the form of Gorefest thanks |

What are people's opinions on Textures? I haven't actually heard any of their music yet but i would like to know what MMA thinks about them as their descriptions seem appealing to me. Should I go check them out?

Out of the ones listed, I went with The Gathering because of "Mandylion", which I've always liked. I was also tempted to go with "others", thinking Pestilence.
