Art of the Black Blood
Country: USA
Formed: 2007

Project featuring John Haughm of Agalloch.

Art of the Black Blood is an arcane experimental funeral doom trio formed in 2007, featuring current and former members of Agalloch. Their debut album contains 46 minutes of vile, morbid and depraved plague worship. Haunting ambient black/doom for fans of Nortt, Summoning (1st album), Thergothon, Abruptum and Gnaw Their Tongues.

I like this. It's not straight out metal but has obvious metal parts and influences.

I've filed it for now under our catch-all that's metal-related rock, which is where we group heavy music that doesn't clearly fall into one of the main subs.

Feel free to challenge. And many thanks for the recommendation.

I hadn't realised we had a Metal Related subgenre (makes sense though, since ProgArchives has Prog Related). That's definitely more appropriate for this band.

Glad you liked it! This is basically an Agalloch side-project, which makes it all the more perplexing to me that it has received such little attention. But it's very different musically, and not as "accessible", I guess. Personally this sort of dark, atmospheric "black ambient" stuff is right up my alley.
