Well, today we have many bands giving their albums for free. And some of these albums are really awesome, so good (and some even better!) as the totally commercial options! What's your fav free release in the metal world?

I voted Mysticum. Can't find out a way to get their free thing to work though.

I wouldn't really count Lost In Time by Paradise Lost among these ones as it's a compilation album.
I'll have to dig through my library to remember some of the better freebies I've acquired.

Utopia by Distorted Harmony.
And I just have to say...if anyone votes Part the Second by Maudlin of the Well they need to take their Metal Lover's card out of their wallet and tear it up. |

Out of these, Part The Second easily. But overall, Mendel's Subliminal Colors.

Seeing as PtS isn't remotely metal, I voted for The Pax Cecilia
Could have also voted other for Sioum's I Am Mortal, But Was Fiend |

Then you haven't heard the Distorted Harmony one. It's amazing. I think I'm going to have to bump it up to 2nd place in my yearly list, which I hate doing because I'm a big fanboy of the band currently in my 2nd place. |

^ if it's prog metal as in Symhpony X, DT style I probably won't really like it.
And besides I voted for Melvins anyway. Best band on that list, best album on that list. Edited by Sheavy - 02 Jul 2012 at 10:46pm |

It's not - it's something all its own. Hard to describe the style - read the reviews we've posted. |

But I need to say, this EP by Melvins could be better. The first two songs are really awesome, but the last three are not that good. |

I voted for Part the Second because it was there. Not metal, though, but it's miles ahead of any other free album I've heard.
