Which Corey Taylor fronted band do you prefer? Slipknot or Stone Sour?

Well I have one Stone Sour CD. Which is one more than I'm ever likely to have of Slipknot CD's. Not a major fan of either band though. I brought Come What(ever) May because it was only 1.

Putting "neither" in polls isn't going to get you new or useful information. Especially one with Slipknot mentioned in it.

I don't 'get' Stone Sour to be honest. I don't hate them, or want to stop people listening to them, but I understand that they aren't for me. I loved 'Get Inside' at the time but the album was so boring, tame, and generic. No single since has inspired me to take a risk on any newer album, if anything they've gone blander, into the WWE background music vein of laterday Drowning Pool, Disturbed and Hell Yeah.
With such a talented singer, I understand why people would like them, and how the kind of "only like a bit of Metal" fans would dig them, but its all a bit one dimensional, uninspiring and lacking in "wow factor" for me. If Corey Taylor wasn't in them I don't think another band with this formula would be viewed as any more important than Soil (underrated band in this type of music.) They really are one of the blander outfits going (and I don't even mean that as an insult either). I think a lot of it has to do with the production and the producers clipping down the songs. Nobody ever sounds like they are "playing the fuck out of it" and the band don't seem to ever just drop a huge energetic end to a song. Any cool riffs don't get a chance to sound cool due to the production job and the mix, and the drums never sound particularly powerful. Everything is so polite. Slipknot may be a bit flawed, but they are a million times more creative, inventive and interesting. |

I think Slipknot is a much better band than Stone Sour... more original and interesting at least.
