Not necessarily anything to do with music, but metal anyway, so I thought to post this here:

Here's Derek Riggs' homepage with lots of original album art. For example masses of Maiden stuff with amusing and revealing commentary. Very recommended to check out Thumbs Up

The man was a wizard with a paintbrush, but some of his computer created images are absolutely awful, for example the Timo Kotipelto stuff...

Yeah some just cant make the transition to modern technology. Personally I find a lot of computer created cover artwork awful. But its an aquired taste.

Derek was the master in the eighties. I used to have 14 Iron Maiden posters hanging on walls, my door and my ceiling in my 9 km2 room, back when I was living with my parents. I practically worshipped the mans art.

I love painted album artwork and good photographs, but if it's obvious that the image is created with computers there's a good chance I just don't like it. Many of his later Maiden works would be really good if they didn't have the shiny computer surface.

I'm not entirely impressed with his works, though the Dickinson/Maiden ones are pretty cool.

His computer art is indeed dreadful...

Yeah, I'm not a fan of his computer art either. Some of his Maiden and Gamma Ray covers (to name but a few) were absolutely killer! Clap
