unfortunately I spend a very small amount of time checking out new music nowadays and didn't think it would be fair or appropriate when I only listen to old faves

Fair enough, appreciate not everyone listens to loads of new stuff, but even if you only had a top 5, that's okay to submit.

Finally got round to adding a few stats on number of releases in the top 50 by main sub-genre. Death metal ran away with it in the 2021 vote but has been overtaken by Prog metal this time.
