As bandleader Mr. Lordi has explained before: "Create the band that you would like to see on stage. Write the songs you'd love to sing along to. That's pretty much all that we love to do." About.com says "Behind the masks and monster imagery, Lordi is just good old fashioned 80s style melodic metal, and this is one of their strongest efforts to date." Band members Amen the unstoppable mummy, Awa the vampire countess, OX the hellbull, and Kita the alien manbeast, join Mr. Lordi to form an unstoppable rock n' roll force hell bent on taking over the world. "This Is Heavy Metal" is the first single and video from the five-piece's Michael Wagener-produced album. "We wanted to make it crystal clear what heavy metal really is all about for us," said Mr. Lordi. Anyone who can't bring themselves to like something about Babez for Breakfast is taking life too seriously," said Metal Injection, while PopDose claimed, "If you are listening to Babez for Breakfast without a big old drunk grin on your face then you arent doing this right." Lordi is set to embark on the Europe For Breakfast tour that begins in November and encompasses 30 shows in 13 countries. www.lordi.fi www.twitter.com/lordiofficial http://www.myspace.com/lordi http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lordi/13649790396 What Lies Beneath is the new album from the Finnish multi-platinum singer Tarja Turunen, best known as the original vocalist of Nightwish and the most successful female singer from Finland ever. Effortlessly fusing metal, classical and pop-rock, What Lies Beneath was recorded and produced by Tarja and mixed by Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, The Cure, Robert Plant), Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Machine Head, Bullet For My Valentine) and Slamm Andrews (Scores of Angels & Demon, Pirates of The Caribbean, Gladiator). The album debuted this week at #4 on the German charts and Noisecreep recently detailed the videos for the first single, "Until My Last Breath," and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album, which can be seen here: http://www.noisecreep.com/2010/09/10/tarja-turunen-until-my-last-breath-video/ Special guests on What Lies Beneath include Phil Labonte (All That Remains), Joe Satriani, Jason Hook (5 Finger Death Punch), Will Calhoun (Living Colour), The Slovak National Symphony Orchestra and Choir and more. About.com said the album features "tons of melody to spare, and Tarjas soaring soprano all over the place" while RockSound extolls, "this remains very much a distinctly classy showcase for Turunens utterly flawless, inimitable vocals, strong songwriting skills, and admirable desire to neither rest on her laurels, nor confine herself to any particular style." http://www.tarjaturunen.com http://tarja-whatliesbeneath.com http://www.myspace.com/tarjaofficial http://www.youtube.com/user/tarjaofficial http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tarja-Turunen http://twitter.com/tarjaofficial Chicagos These Are They release their sophomore full-length, Disposing of Betrayers, today on Unruly Sounds/The End Records. The album was recorded at Belle City Sound in Milwaukee, WI with producer Chris Wisco (Michael Angelo Batio, Dirge Within, Jungle Rot) and mixed and mastered by Dan Swan (Hail of Bullets, Edge of Sanity, Nightingale) at Unisound in rebro, Sweden. These Are They have increased speed, aggression, and power to create perhaps the strongest death metal release to come from the city of Chicago in years. The band pay tribute to death metal pioneers (and fellow-Chicagoans) Devastation, with a cover of their classic track, "Cranial Hemorrhage. Making this even more special, These Are They invited original guitarist Erv Brautigam and vocalist Duane Rasmussen to join them on the recording. Erv created a blazing solo for the song (which was not part of the original track) and Duane lent his vocal talent, which became the first time key members of Devastation have "reunited" in over 20 years. Keeping with their Chicago pride, These Are They have taken on Chicagos history rich with organized crime. The lyrics throughout Disposing of Betrayers re-imagine events - all taken from factual newspaper articles which still resonate throughout the city today. Some based in fact, some in fiction, but all for the fascination in the history of Chicago's lore. Kik Axe Music said of the album, "On the surface, the nine-song set is an impeccably-produced throwback to the glory days of early 90's death metal, bound to capture the ears of those into BRUTAL TRUTH, OBITUARY, or ENTOMBED. Beneath the surface lies something much more sinister and delightful..." www.thesearethey.us www.myspace.com/thesearetheychicago |
