Perhaps this topic has been smashed to a pulp but I need to know..
I've been tirelessly looking for newer bands that sound similar to that of early Metallica I'm mainly into older style thrash-metal like Mantic Ritual, Early Man and some other guys - less distortion/ gain - clear vocals - hooks, etc Thanks pce

I can recommend "Manic Frustration" by Trouble. Nice hard rock/heavy metal album.
The first two Skid Row albums might also be to your taste.

Yeah I know Skid Row. Kind of tired of the 80s scene though, been listening to it for too long.

You may enjoy Trivium, their albums 'The Crusade' and 'Shogun' have a strong Metallica feel to them. I may have some more recommendations, I'll have to look through my saved YouTube playlists.

I second Trivium, VERY similar to early Metallica, at least from last I heard them(which was ages ago).

I like the thrash band Mortillery, quite a strong traditional side to them as well.
