Don't know if a appreciation thread has been made for these guys yet and if they don't I think they deserve one.

Picked up This is Thirteen the other day on CD.

Love Anvil, only heard This is Thirteen and Metal on Metal but those are both great albums. I should really listen to more of them.

Forged in Fire is a classic. Fantastic album. A shame I cannot find a youtibe of Free as the Wind, that song is beyond awesome.

Finished listening to Anubis Gate this morning.  Anvil are next alphabetically on my journey through my music collection.   I have their first 3 albums and Juggernaut of Justice.  I've not heard anything in between.  I wasn't familiar with them back in their hey day, and only fairly recently picked up these albums (within the last 3 or 4 years).

Anyone heard Benediction's cover version of 'Forged in Fire'?

I must be alone here with my lack of interest in Anvil.  They do absolutely nothing for me.
Be excellent to each other.

Nope I´m there with you. They are not stinking bad IMO, but I´m just not very interested in their music. I only purchased their early releases, because of Benediction´s cover of Forged in Fire (which is far greater than the original to my ears Big smile).

It's the only one I have. Doesn't get played much but I do dust it off occasionally.

I tried Forged in Fire quite recently while exploring 80's metal albums. It didn't grab me too much, but I haven't wrote them off just yet.

I've dipped into them over the years and they're not bad at all though rarely exceptional. The documentary about them was great.

I don't think all of their discography is equally impressive. Hard 'n' Heavy is a bit meh to me, but Metal on Metal, Forged in Fire, and Strength of Steel are awesome. I like This is Thirteen, too - especially 'American Refugee'.

I told my brother to check out the Anvil movie, and after watching it, he took quite some convincing they were a real band, and not a modern take on Bad News or Spinal tap!LOL

The documentary is deliberately modeled after "This Is Spinal Tap", so I understand your brother there.
