When I clicked on the band 3 listed here on MMA I was surprised to see that it was listed as a 1-man project from Italy, and not the band from the USA famous for Wake Pig. I checked on PA, and they are listed as Three on PA, but they are listed as Crossover Prog, not prog metal. Their albums are released on Metal Blade, so that would make me think that they should be listed here as a metal band. Unfortunately, I have heard of the band, but I am not familiar with them. Does anybody have any thoughts?

I'll have to listen to them. Keep in mind, the Goo Goo Dolls were also on Metal Blade briefly.

The Goo Goo Dolls do have metal elements, although mostly just as an alternative pop metal type way. Certainly nothing brutal about them. |

I remember them as a kind of latter day Rush and Kings X influenced band. Might fit in alternative, but I think that team should be asked first.

They are metal enough to be here IMO (although I have had to play "The End Is Begun" again to remind myself first )
Kinda reminds me of Coheed and Cambria.
I have their latest "Revisions" which I have only played a couple of times and didn't seem that heavy to me.
It may be that some albums qualify and some won't.

The prog band 3 shares its name with an industrial bm band. They don't show up on the prog band 3's last.fm page for some reason, even though the biography on it mentions there is more than one 3 band.

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

There is also the Progressive Rock Band "3" with Keith Emerson, Carl Palmer and Mike Berry .
I like "Three(3hree, 3)" Very much and would agree that they may fit in the Alternative Metal or Prog Metal catagory. Yes, they are a bit like Coheed and Cambria but imo have alot more musically going on-on thier albums. The Album "The End has Begun" is very much recommended. Saw and heard them for the 1st time when they opened for Porcupine Tree on the Fear of a Blank Planet Tour, me and my friend were blown away! Title Track: |
