VOICES: New Record From UK Avant Sound Contortionists Streaming At Cvlt Nation; London To See North American Release Next Tuesday
Just days away from its North American release, today Cvlt Nation streams London, the brand new studio offering from UK avant sound contortionists, VOICES, in its entirety.
Delivering
fourteen bastardized tracks of progressive blackened psychedelic
melancholia centered on the forgotten and diseased underbelly of
England's capital city, VOICES - who features within their
twisted ranks former members of Akercocke and My Dying Bride - compose
perfectly imperfect sounds to welcome the end of creation, the
extinction of the human, the collapse of music as we once knew...
Already
reaping critical acclaim throughout European media outlets with Metal
Hammer naming the record, "one of the most unique and ambitious metal
albums of recent years... from sumptuous beauty through helplessly
driven, angular extremity to mind-flaying, id-erupting mania, London
is a shattering of the senses, and a psychedelic thrill ride down the
rabbit-hole of consciousness," and Angry Metal Guy assuring, "you'll be completely captivated right until the final excruciating note," London is earning similar accolades on North American shores. Metal Insider applauds a band, "unafraid
of musical exploration," furthering that, "their ability to seamlessly
meld together genres as varied as black and death metal with dark folk
and prog rock, among so many others, would be commendable in attempt
alone. But the success in which they've been able to so perfectly paint
this shadow world with music, beyond how they are describing it directly
in words, makes this album one of the most distinctive and engaging
metal albums in recent memory." Metal Underground calls London, "a sprawling piece of work," and a, "solid effort of progressive black/death metal," Dead Rhetoric commends in an 8.5/10 an offering that's, "utterly bleak... capturing a feeling of a demented rollercoaster ride," adding, "London is an exquisite trip worth taking on repeated occasions," while New Noise Magazine notes, "VOICES
has certainly crafted a challenging and harsh listen, but that doesn't
diminish how impressive the full result is, given you have the time and
energy to take a harrowing journey with these Englishmen."
Celebrating a record that's, "beautiful and furious, frustrated and self-assured," VOICES' London is currently streaming, courtesy of Cvlt Nation, at http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001dPcoZkMURFnr77UvZIMEuAjF-Fp9VVQ7MrC2__Xs_L1zxLaZ2abmiu1b560O4gRjaatHZav4px8P9Piu1qzQ9Oqm-K1WRnjiRI0Xtui7AQhX50eWFOgZmUk928D2ZM2ua-SQlX6vJpQVv2wZxqXXDfaZUpWLNw2Wsjcy3qpvsnsXdmiI_Ki1icQv8rJlaxRQKUO9lMAG_au-rHQRGI4TnRuFtD6MtkVMw1DNIAR1yUE=&c=o8m6Tfvjo6HWtMgIhryeGd2S1z1f9b89tETo9sUaYZrbUSCPG9B-Ng==&ch=BExCgqVjRHNEjJ5obz2k-_z2SviO1-HUE_dRMUALyNcE99_B-WGALQ==" rel="nofollow - THIS LOCATION .
VOICES was
formed in London in 2011 as a new experiment from guitarist/vocalist
Peter Benjamin, drummer David Gray and bassist Sam Loynes (all former
members of Akercocke) with a mission to create a deep brand of cold and
confronting music, part hypnotic yet often disturbing, focusing from an
avant-garde take upon black metal, whilst always striving to explore a
wide musical spectrum.
London will be released in North America via Candlelight Records on January 27th, 2015.
