I haven't heard much Meshuggah, but from what I have heard Destroy Erase Improves is probably my favorite.

Yeah Nothing is a great album, but it´s probably obZen for me.

Chaosphere and Koloss could have bee picks too.

I'm a big fan of the band but in my opinion their last truly great album is Catch 33. It's also my favourite.

Embarrassingly, I'm not really a Meshuggah fan... Ouch

They sure are an aquired taste, and I can understand those who don´t really appreciate their music. It personally took me about 10 years before I was hooked, and I purchased Contradictions Collapse a few years after it was released. I still have my vinyl version which was bought second hand. I guess someone soon realised that album wasn´t for them Smile.

I've never really given them a thorough listen to begin with. I remember the drummer in a thrash band I was in in the 90s liked them a lot though.

They´ve developed their style quite a bit since the 90s, so if you´re going to give them a try, you should maybe try Destroy, Nothing and obzen to get a good Picture of their style and the Development of said style. I think those three are good reference points, although most of their releases are pretty interesting.

Oh and please give "Bleed" from obZen a good listen. Absolutely crushing and impossible to play track.

Maybe I should just play their entire discography. I do have Spotify in my office, so maybe the literature professor in the office next to mine will end up knocking angrily at my door on Monday.

I think every Metal head needs to at least give Meshuggah a listen.  I agree with UMUR that Meshuggah are an acquired taste and they take time to come to grips with.

I tried, more than once, to get into them, but it's just not for me. Competent musicians, no doubt about that, but a tiresome listen for me, overall.

That's the great thing about music, everyone has their own tastes. :)

Been listening through their discography, and they are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. I should have waited to vote until I heard all their albums. So far, it might actually be the debut that's my favorite, but I still got quite a few albums to listen to though.

I've now listened to all their albums, but I don't think I can pick a favorite, almost all of them are just so good. I voted Destroy Erase Improve before I heard much of them, but that's certainly not a bad vote. Although if I had to choose, it would probably be ObZen or Koloss.

I do enjoy Meshuggah but haven't heard their first 3 albums so don't feel qualified enough to vote here. I'll have to check them out and come back.
