Subject: Opinions on Electronic music?

Of course metal is my favorite kind of music, but I also really like Electronic music. Unfortunately Electronic music has kind of gotten a bad name with things like Dubstep and remixes, but I love the more experimental stuff, IDM, Breakbeat, and ambient/trance. Some of my favorite electronic artists are Kraftwerk, Deadmau5, Eat Static, Orbital, The Orb, LOR3L3I, and I guess Bjork could be considered electronic even though she really has no one genre. Any other fans of electronic music around here?

Hmmm electronic music isn't for me, everyone has their own tastes. My wife and my youngest son love dance and electronic music. I love guitars, I love drums, nothing compares, my eldest son is following in his old man's footsteps.
I get called closed minded by a lot of people because I rarely venture outside of the Metal genre but I don't have the need. Metal more than satisfies me :)

^Yeah, metal more then satisfies me too but if I'm in the right mood though I do have those few experimental electronic albums that I'll put on. Usually Kraftwerk's 'Minimum Maximum', Deadmau5's 'While (1<2)', and The Orb's 'Orblivion'. Of course though, different strokes for different folks.

I do like a bit of Kraftwerk when in the mood and have a bit of a soft spot for Berlin school. I've loads of TD. Not sure whether I'd class Bjork as electronica, but her later albums are superb.

I like a decent amount of it. Anything Berlin school, most ambient stuff, synthwave, a few more chill groups/musicians (Air, Memory Tapes, 2562, Flying Lotus, and Nerve being some favourites)

Well, I like stuff like Sphongle and Entheogenic, so definitely a fan of psybient music, but also just ambient-type music in general. Chill-out/downtempo would be quite close to that and I also like more experimental stuff like Tangerine Dream and such.

I agree, but I think that some electronica, like Sortenmuld, is pretty good. And pump up the jam, pump it up while your feet are stomping!

I like a fair amount of electronic. I've not explored the genre very in depth though.

I really like some stuff by Venetian Snares, Ulver, Aphex Twin, Bjork, The Prodigy, Gnaw Their Tongues (+Seirom, Aderlating etc). I don't listen to electronica on a regular basis, though,

Oh I forgot about Ulver! I do prefer their Black Metal albums but Blood Inside is so good.

I dislike most electronic, especially EDM. There is a few artists/bands that I enjoy sometimes, mostly Kraftwerk.

Electronic music can be good if it is tweeked with a bit and ends up sounding like art. However, I personally have never really been a fan of it. Those are my two cents

Depends on what you call "electronic music": I went as far as listening to the beginnings of electro-acoustic music and "musique concrete", so my views on so-called "electronic music" are somewhat biased and I tend to go to the experimental side of things.

yes, Blood Inside is my favourite, I think... although I like Perdition City a mighty lot too. And Shadows of the Sun used to be a frequent guest on my playlist as well ;) Actually, their latest album is also... hah, just kidding. Although some tracks from Wars of the Roses are in fact pretty good
As for their black metal albums, I must say that compared to some more recent post-black metal releases (Fen's Epoch or Agalloch's Marrow of the Spirit), their early albums do not excite me as much. Still, they started it all (as far as I know), so respect.

Quite like Kraftwerk and on the more experimental side Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire did some pretty interesting stuff.

Air is only partially Electronic, but I agree that they are great . I´ve seen them three times live over the years, and especially the gig supporting 10,000 Hz Legend was incredible.

We certainly do, and if you like Aphex Twin, I'd highly recommend checking out Deadmau5's Get Scraped and While (1<2) albums. Very eclectic albums with some Aphex Twin-esque styling.

^ Got seven out of the 25. The electronic genre has a lot of my favorite artists, but I tend to go for the less structured stuff. Ambient, Berlin school, dark ambient, industrial, noise, and power electronics, with some idm and related.

What do you think of Orbital? I've fallen back in love with Snivilisation, which is one of my all-time favorite electronic albums. I've always thought that it's their most eclectic album, and doesn't get enough love.

Ehhhh. Never really went for anything I've heard by them, not really my style tbh. I tend to like stuff that most would consider boring, stuff that's really repetitive or soundscape artists and albums, or completely unlistenable and abrasive. The artists I'm really enjoying right now are Keith Fullerton Whitman, nurse with wound, zoviet France, nod, and burial hex to just name a very few.

^Ah, I have some pretty eclectic tastes so I love both repetitive stuff along the lines of Kraftwerk and early The Orb, and eclectic artists like Deadmau5, Eat Static, and Orbital. I mostly gravitate towards either chillout/downtempo stuff or really energetic breakbeat or IDM. That's probably one reason why I love Deadmau5 so much, as he combines both.

I would enjoy ambient music if it weren't for the fact it's so easy to replicate amateurishly (and usually in low quality).

Hey, you're right! I'll check em out but you reminded me that i do like Mouse On Mars :)
Also like trance stuff like Juno Reactor and other Goa Trance stuff. Going to Burning Man has expanded the electronica on speed palette :P

I am not a huge fan of electronic music myself....it is irritating + too loud for my tastes...My fiance' loves it, so, I have to pretend like I love it too...It actually makes my head hurt like hell when I hear it playing..=[
