Guns N' Roses, or 3 members of - Slash, Duff and Axl are apparently writing new material and going to play some shows. Does this news get you excited or do you think they should have let sleeping dogs lie?

I'm not remotely interested myself. They made one overrated but half decent  debut album followed by 2 patchy ones that could have been condensed into 1 and you can definitely keep the rest. Axl has been such an obnoxious tw@t (with an overinflated ego) over the years that I really couldn't care less if he ever set foot in the recording studio or on a stage again. Slash and Duff on the other hand both seem like nice guys and have enjoyed and bought some of Slash's stuff in particular.

I for one wont be buying the new album.

I'm pretty much with you. I like the debut and some songs from the two Use Your Illusion albums, but besides that I couldn't care less. I might listen to a new album from them just for the hell of it, so I guess I'm pretty indifferent.

I can enjoy G'n'R's hits if I happen to hear them but they've never done much for me as a band. We have a best of release from them in the house and I think that's enough. So no, not remotely interested in any reunion and given Axl's rather infamous reputation now I'm actually surprised that Slash and Duff want to be associated with him again. I don't know much about Duff but Slash has had a good thing going with his solo band with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. Wouldn't call myself a major fan of that even (I have a live album that someone gave me) but I wouldn't like to see that project iced for G'n'R's sake.

I´m pretty indifferent although I absolutely adore the debut album, which to my ears is on of the greatest hard/heavy rock albums of all time. I agree with the above statements that the Illusion albums should have been condensed into one album of decent material...

...my indifference is mostly towards Axl and his shot voice though. He used to be one of the greats, but the live videos I´ve seen from recent years have sounded like his voice is shot. He screams and sings out of tune, and I wouldn´t be able to stand that...and I won´t put up with being kept waiting for him to appear on stage if he has one of his bad days.

When Guns played Copenhagen in 1993 (maybe it was 1994?) my then girlfriend/now wife went to see them as she was and still is a huge fan, but they kept the audience waiting for 1½ hour before playing a 1 hour show...talk about fucking your audience over Angry. And we´re talking a huge stadium concert where people had purchased very pricy tickets...

...I´m not holding my breath, and I won´t attend a possible future show. I´ll listen to a new album because I´m a completist when it comes to reviewing artists, but that´s it.

Quite an emphatic no for me. I'd be more interested in GnR minus Axl, with someone who could sing instead. And Slash shouldn't be going back to the Gunners. He's quite successful and well respected as a solo artist, and better off without Axl.

In slight, but unexpected defence of Axl, one of the Gunners' biographies (think it was probably Steven Adler's, cos Slash didn't have anything good to say about Axl at the time) said the reasons for the sometimes ridiculously long waits for the band to perform was because Axl was trying to get his voice right for the shows, with warm-ups and exercises and medications and crap, and didn't want to perform if he wasn't 100%. It wasn't all just an ego trip.

I don't care at all. I don't even understand the hype around this reunion.

Oh I understand the hype alright...GR was once the greatest rock´n´roll band on earth, and had legions of fans. I remember those days, and I remember how huge they were. Don´t underestimate the demand of a reunion of such a big name...

^ This is true, though I think Axl has pissed off so many fans over the years that a lot of people who would have once been ecstatic about a reformation will have lost interest but I'm sure they'll still sell out the shows even with the over-inflated ticket price that's inevitable.

The first album, while I do think it's overrated did have some good songs though with the likes of Sweet Child... and Paradise City it's a case of familiarity breeds contempt due to endless plays (virtually every day?) on the highly predicable Planet Rock radio playlist.

I'm indifferent. I like Appetite For Destruction a lot but like many consider it the only really worthwhile album they ever did. I shan't attend any such reunion shows. I might listen to a new album out of curiosities sake though.

Interesting, yet to hear from anyone who's even ticked the mildly interested box.

Broke the streak...I am mildly interested.  I was absolutely floored when I first saw Welcome to the Jungle on MTV's Headbanger's Ball one Saturday midnight in high school.  I went out and bought the vinyl and played it for all of my friends.  We were hooked pretty instantly on them.  It was probably a good 6 months or later before it broke into the mainstream and everyone was listening to them.  I saw them live once on a tour with Faith No More and Metallica.  It was a great show...except for the having to wait an extremely long time for them to finally come on stage...although it was pretty entertaining as the camera scanned the crown the women folk took it upon themselves to start flashing the crowd on the screen.  I quite liked that....anyhow, I am mildly interested to see what they might come up with again together.  Although, I did recently purchase and listen to the Van Halen live in Tokyo CD, and David Lee Roth sounds like the world's worst karaoke singer, so I guess my expectations are sort of low on what might come out of this.

I realy like chinese democracy and own it on vinyl. That being said i would realy like a new guns n roses album that sounds like old gnr. Also it has been since 2008 since chinese democracy. I hope this reunion brings out a new album with classic gnr sound. Hell even classic gnr mixed with the sound of chinese democracy would be sick as well

Fuck no. Losers like Axl don't have anything else to add to the musical world so he dredges up the one success that he had and milks it to death. There is no way fucking hell he'll even come close to the classic sound as he sounds like an alley cat raped by twenty pitbulls.

I did like Chinese Democracy but that wasn't a GNR album, it was an overproduced Axl solo album. Agreed that Appetite was one of the best hard rock / metal albums of all time. Never get sick of that one

Nope, not interested in this in the least.

I respect what they did with Appetite, but better to let sleeping dogs lie.

What I find most amazing is two people here have said they like Chinese Democracy! I've never discovered a single fan since it first came out!Shocked Personally I like a couple of songs, but detest the rest.

Here's the third. I love Chinese Democracy, i think it has GREAT songs, amazing guitar work and fine vocals by Axl.

The only big problem with Chinese Democracy is that is a. It is not a Guns n Roses album but an Axl Roses album and b. it was so hyped and anticipated for more than a decade that it couldn't possibly live up to any expectations.

Both these problems you will observe though have nothing to do with the music quality of the album but rather with what the fans would have wanted the album to be.

Other than that, I very much disagree with any notion that GnR are a one-album band with some good songs among the Illusions.

I should remind people that the Illusions are FOUR albums worth of material and I dare anyone to give me a list of the songs they think are filler. I bet your ass I can find you a dozen people in a minute who will scream blasphemy. Me, chief among them. I know because I've done this experiment on my facebook page... I had people fighting over Get in the Ring, Bad Apples, The Garden, 14 Years, Dead Horse etc. I even had a guy telling me that Locomotive is filler. Fucking LOCOMOTIVE with that super fantastic verse/chorus and THAT outro. But to get an idea of how massive gnR were at the time consider this: The Illusions is the only time in rock history a band (and such a mainstream band at that) had the balls to release two double albums on the same day. And both went to numbers #1 and #2 immediately.

Also, most people tend to forget Lies, an EP with gems like One in a Million, Patience and Used to Love Her.

As for the reunion, I am afraid it's a bit late but I am not writing them off. The biggest problem as already stated is Axl's condition and I mean both physical and mental. I've never seen them live and I wish I had. Maybe he can pull it off, maybe not. Axl is a prick, that's for sure but I consider him a very talented prick. When he's on, he's awesome, one of a kind performer, crazy enough to have truly grand visions. But when his ego gets the best of him (which is most of the time) he is capable of turning off even his biggest fans.

So, I'll be watching from the sidelines, hoping for the best. I would be VERY curious for a new album. Both Slash and Axl are excellent songwriters.

Yeah, if you look at it as a GNR album, it fails miserably but i find it a very interesting art rock / metal album that is intricately detailed and quite unique. I wasn't interested when it came out and only picked it up a couple years ago. I hate the album title and album cover but was pleasantly surprised that i liked it.

I would love to be pleasantly surprised with a bona fide follow up to Appetite :)

I am dreaming of a cross between Chinese Democracy and Slash's last two. That could potentially be an Illusions 3 caliber album.

Of course, I am not holding my breath...

Ι found it absolutely much better than VR. Here's a sample.
