Subject: Oddly-themed metal bands

Having just added a themed band, it got me wondering how many bands theme their music around odd subjects?
Now many bands theme their music broadly. Some have a strong religious, anti-religious or fantasising about Satan themes in their music, while others fixate their inadequacies on extreme politic positions like national socialism. A band like http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/sabaton/" rel="nofollow - Sabaton focusses its lyrics on war themes. And of course there are porno-grind bands, gore-themed death bands and space themed bands.
Some though seem to take it further.
Here's two bands that base their music on My Little Pony -
And a release is expected from the McDonald's Hamburgers themed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Sabbath" rel="nofollow - Mac Sabbath at some point.
Bands like this fascinate me, for a few minutes at least. Any even more ridiculous ones I've missed?

Sadly, the first band that I thought of was Zuckuss.... http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/zuckuss/" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/zuckuss/
There's also Austrian Death Machine whose theme is Aaahnuld. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/austrian-death-machine" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/austrian-death-machine
Swashbuckle is a pirate-themed crossover/thrash metal band. It's not an weird theme as such, but they're worth mentioning anyway. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/swashbuckle/" rel="nofollow - www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/swashbuckle/

Battlelore is a Tolkien-themed band. Not very weird, I know. I have only heard one of their albums, and I honestly did not like it. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/battlelore/" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/battlelore/
There's of course Cannabis Corpse, whose theme should be kinda obvious: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/cannabis-corpse/" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/cannabis-corpse/
Darkenhöld is a black metal band who sing about castles and similar edifices. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/darkenhold/" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/darkenhold/

You guys haven't been plumbing the depths of themed grindcore bands. There's a shitload of zombie themed bands. Zuckuss is a good idea, just poorly executed. Love some of the names, like Rancorr Rimjob, but the music all sounds the same.
Here's a couple for ya: Zitsquatch http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/zitsquatch" rel="nofollow - (mainly acne themed...) http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/zitsquatch
Porky Vagina (Love their christmas EP!) http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/porky-vagina" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/porky-vagina

Well it's not his entire theme of course but for individual albums Devin Townsend did make Ziltoid the Omniscient, the story of an alien who comes to Earth in search of the ultimate cup of coffee.

Gwar is an interesting band if you like weird and ridiculously funny gore sci-fi themes: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/gwar/?ac=gwar" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/gwar/?ac=gwar
Classics like "Saddam a Go-Go", "Slaughterama" and "Sexecutioner", should not be missed
I´ve unfortunately never seen them live and their frontman died of an overdose a few years back, so I´m not sure I ever will , and from what I´ve heard their live shows are legendary.

I've always liked the videos and the image, and some of the song titles are brilliant (Penguin Attack!), but I never quite got the music. They're still going, although there's no original members left in the band.
Also can't forget Macabre. A lot of bands have sung about serial killers, but Macabre's entire career has been dedicated to them. http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/macabre" rel="nofollow - http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/macabre

POWERGLOVE have a video game theme. They dress like video game characters and do metal renditions of guess what... video game music!
BRUJERIA is a Mexican death metal band that acts like its part of the drug cartel and performs and acts like its always on the run and ready for unexpected shootouts and other shenanigans
ALESTORM is another pirate themed band. Not sure this is odd but worth mentioning
GWAR is my fave! Intergalactic terrorists in costumes wins me over
DETHKLOK of course is the faux band on the animated series Metalocalypse and is more of a gimmick than a theme i guess
WORMED is band from Spain whose lyrics are all scientific ranging from astronomy and astrophysics to biology, evolution and other complex analysis

Not exactly an odd theme when talking death metal, but Carcass has lyrics dealing with obscure medical terms that only doctors would know. (I'm not sure if even doctors would know some of those. )

Yeah Macabre is a good choice too. I agree that Gwar´s music hasn´t always been of the highest quality, but it´s alright, as it´s always been about the show first and the music second. They do have some "hits" like the three above mentioned though.

This is not a real band, but an idea for a parody band which will never ever become a reality: a Star Wars themed parody on http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/shitfucker" rel="nofollow - Shitfucker called Sithfucker.

Maybe you should start it Kim.
Actually there is already at least one band who do stuff with Star Wars themes though they've branched out a bit with their latest release:

^ two very strange deathgrind bands we need to add:
From Wikipedia:
Hatebeak is a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_metal" rel="nofollow - death metal band, formed by Blake Harrison and Mark Sloan, featuring Waldo, a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congo_African_grey_parrot" rel="nofollow - Congo African grey parrot (b. 1991). Hatebeak is the only band to have an avian vocalist. They never tour so as to not torture the bird.Hatebeak is signed to Reptilian Records. The band split up in 2009 but reunited in 2015. They released the albumNumber of the Beak on June 26, 2015, through Reptilian Records.
The band's sound has been described as "a jackhammer being ground in a compactor". Aquarius Records magazine called Hatebeak "furious and blasting death metal". Hatebeak made its second record with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caninus_%28band%29" rel="nofollow - Caninus , a band whose lead singers were two dogs. Hatebeak's goal is to "raise the bar for extreme music".

Those parody song titles of famous metal bands/albums/songs from Hatebeak are pretty hilarious.

Don't fancy their chances for longevity with a name like that.
