The artist I just added (Suicidal Madness) had a duplicate profile created for them at the point of adding the main profile, before releases.

I've deleted the duplicate now, but has anyone ever had this happen to them before?

Yep. Happens from time to time. Usually notice when I spot the country tag in the band url. Sometimes I end up copying releases onto the earlier created profile before deleting the second. Assumed it was something I'd done wrong - reassuring to hear I'm not alone ;-)

Yes that's how I noticed it. I thought the search I did for the band (which turned up nothing) had let me down for a moment.

Maybe you double clicked submit by accident?

Maybe, I don't think so though.

Well that's happened to me with adding releases, but there's a failsafe when that happens so a release isn't added twice. It only kicks in for artist profiles though if there's already an artist with the same name and country in the database.

See what happened when I tried to add the new website of http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/artist/leviathan" rel="nofollow - Leviathan

And I did a search, there's no duplicate entry for this band! Wacko

No, there isn't. But there are three different bands called Leviathan in the database. This is a known bug unfortunately (the ironic thing is the Leviathan's added since can be updated with no issue).

If an update needs to be made you'll need to differentiate the name somehow. I'd suggest something like:

Leviathan (US Black Metal Act).

Can I add this info in the "sort name" form?

It has to at least be the Artist Name form unfortunately. Maybe both, it's been some time since I had to do this. Try Artist Name first and then both if it doesn't go through with just that.

Ok man, I followed your suggestion and it worked! Thanks! Beer

It strikes me that the MMA profile URL being generated based on the Sort Name rather than the Artist Name would be a better system all round.
