He's one of the really interesting figures whom I never really made contact with... I'm still going to pick up some of his works at some point.

R.I.P.

Sad news indeed. I only know Trout Mask and Safe as Milk from his solo career but as Im a giant Zappa ( UncleMeatUncleRemus) fan I have the albums where Captain Beefheart participates.

Zappa fan gigantus hereEmbarrassed. Im the kind of fan that has both vinyl and CD versions of the albums. Since this is a Beefheart thread I would of course mention this one:

But also this one:

All I can say about the former is "Abnezra Kadabra". Beefheart sure had a thing with words and how to deliver them.

Although I haven't listened to Beefheart aside from Zappa's material, he was a great influence on many bands. Rest in piece Captain!

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

Captain Beefheart, has done some very interesting compositions that really played with my mind...I like how a lot of his stuff makes you hear several entirely seperate tunes simultaneously  within a single song. May his consciousness enjoy 'the great gig in the sky', so to speak, for all time. Ying Yang
