Just  because I am in the mood, let this be the chamber of the downtempo and downtuned!

Doom, Stoner, Sludge, Post anything that is slow and heavy represent!

Forgive me, I am very tired and not even sure if this thread is a good idea, but here it goes anyway!

It's ok, a bit slow for me. LOL

I like some slow stuff, but it sounds a little weird when the vocalist, especially when growling, takes 10 seconds to say two words.

I feel also of what I have heard from Neurosis they qualifie as a slow and sludging metal act, which songs just builds and builds until its massive large piece of metalchunck

growling 10 seconds to say 2 words?
That's the best!

Balthamel, that is a very very appropriate way to describe Neurosis LOL
Their latest stuff is in a post-metal vein but Through Silver in Blood....man that thing is a bludgeoning!
Slow, slugdy and heavy, no ambient passages or clean vocals. Just one giant crescendo to a monolith.

Awesome!

Ah yes Ahab, gotta love funeral doom!

And I like that album, but still not one of my favs (only gave it 3.5* Colin!)
Neurosis' later stuff is a bit more streamlined, which I kinda like.

And even that stuff....damn his vocals LOL The really nice sounding stuff he's still making a semi clean, strained voice.
So weird.

There are some clips on YouTube. The diehards hate it, of course...but I think it works. It takes getting used to...

Been on an obsession with Type O Negative lately, they certainly qualify. Though they are rather hard to categorize.

I've also been listening to Mandylion by The Gathering. Good stuff.

Lost respect for these archives when I saw Creed added, among other bands. Not going to be foruming here anymore. You can keep my reviews if you want.

Yes, I like Neurosis' later stuff a bit better. Its just more streamlined sounding, and I can't even say they sound like generic post-metal since they invented the sound!

This is my personal favorite Candlemass song. So damn bleak.
This is THE definition of doom metal!

Here are some slow death metal songs:

The German band Protector usually play brutal thrash metal with deathgrowls, but this song is pretty slow, at least for this band:

Protector with Golem:

Bolt Thrower with Mercenary:

This is the condensed version of a 63 minute song LOL

It's pretty much all the good parts put together into 10 minutes, actually really awesome.
I tried listening to the true version several times, I just can't do it.

I love doom metal, and some of my favorite bands, like Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus, operate within that genre. That being said, stoner-doom is probably my least favorite doom genre, although sometimes an artist pops up that I do really like.

Recently, I've been listening to more progressive doom metal, and I can recommend Barren Earth, Sorrows Path, Chowder, and The Prophecy.
