Post the metal acts or individual albums that you consider the most unique from your collection (or just have heard).

For me, the following acts spring to mind:

Hail Spirit Noir - psychedelic black metal. A term that is often misused, but these guys actually nail it. I have heard some call them 'Black Floyd' before now.

Breed 77 - Alternative Metal with Flamenco elements. This lat metal band adds flamenco guitar passages to their sound.

Aquilus - atmospheric black metal with extensive classical passages and dark folk elements.

Might be more later, short of time right now.

^ Yep they'd certainly qualify from what I've heard of them.

Another one from me - Panopticon. Not all the time but certainly on Kentucky. Alternates between atmospheric black metal and bluegrass.

I'll have to think on this but I do have 2 that you have listed in your collection Adam - Hail Spirit Noir and Aquilus.

Völur can also fit this thread I think. At least for their album Ancestors (2017). Doom metal meets dark/nordic folk with a touch of black metal - but no guitars. All driven by bass, violin and keys.

That's the last one I can list from my CD collection.

I'm sure avant-garde metal has a lot of very unique acts (since that is, you know, the point).

Own? Probably Songs for Insects or early Powerman 5000 (Haven't heard anything quite like it, closest comparison is if Clutch made a nu metal album)

Heard? Either Diablo Swing Orchestra, Slab!, or Психея (nu metal band that utilizes elements of breakbeat and drum and bass)
