Part two of a study on bassists: JAZZ METAL
I chose three bassists, each having great skill with their instrument, and each being in a band that has a rather decent following. Jazz metal has a huge emphasis on the bassist, often requiring copious amounts of skill for solos and backing melodies. So, which of these bassists, from Cynic, Atheist, or Planet X is your favorite?
I went with Sean Malone, pure genius!

I thought about putting him in, but I liked Zielhorst so much from Exivious that I put him in.

Indeed, and I suppose you are limiting to 3? Because honestly, Malone would probably get my vote.
With my metal drummer one I think I could only get it down to 20

I could probably find around 20, but I tried to get the "top 3" jazz metal acts (as well as the other genres I'm doing), although I was probably being pretty biased and shortsighted.

No bigs, I was just a little surprised not to see him. And I have trouble limiting myself anyway with things like this

Ill go with Patterson, because he isnt "too" jazz.

I object to Jimmy Johnson's appearance on the list. He's mainly known for his jazz work, and not his Planet X guest spots.
Sean Malone would probably have my vote, although Patterson was a great player who left as soon as he arrived, and I don't own any Exivious, but their stuff sounds great and is definitely on my long term purchase list.

Just because I'm being yelled at I'm changing the first choice to Sean Malone, sorry all those who would have voted for him. And Stooge, there are so many damn Planet X bassists, I tried to find one who was most prominent, and I though Universe was a good album that showed emphasis on bass, and he was the most prominent bass player on that album.

I never yelled, just figured he'd be here. Also, guess my vote is forever stuck but I'm going back and writing in

I went with Sean Malone. I was close to picking Patterson, though, but I think he never reached his full potential, because he was killed in that tragic traffic accident. The stuff he wrote with Atheist is so far out it's brilliant.
