I noticed that the last release category is titled "EPs, Fan Club Releases" thus omitting singles. Is this a mistake or should we indeed avoid singles? It could be a good thing, keeping the discographys simpler.

Another thing I've got to ask is official bootlegs that are only released digitally, for free or not. Metallica has literally hundreds of them (they've released every single show since 2003 and selected shows from before), some of which were added automatically by Musicbrainz. They are official releases, but sh*tloads of coverless obscurities make the discography look like crap, and if we've got 50 of them, we should add all 750 others as well.

So perhaps no official bootlegs in digital format or just in certain cases when it doesn't flood the site?

By the way, I would separate EPs and Fan Club Releases. At least I don't have a clue why they are together? LOL "EPs, singles" would sound better. And in case demos are accepted, "EPs, singles, demos" or something.

Fan Club releases are so rare that I think it's good to be lumped together with another minor category.

Well yeah, good point, I wouldn't give them an own section due to their rarity. It just sounds weird to see "EP" and "Fan Club Release" in the same category as if they had something in common.

I assumed that Fanclub releases would go into the Other Releases area, but since that seems to make album entries disappear, I've been moving the Dream Theater official bootlegs and adding singles to the EP section.

I second the idea of making the EP section the EP and Single section; the site is a database, so I think it is necessary to include singles.

Oh yes, there was supposed to be the other releases section, fan club stuff would be better there. If it works Tongue So "Singles and EPs" and "Fan Club and other releases"?

I personally think the Livemetallica cd's should be removed, there are simpely to many. And maybe if the demand for those cd's is high in the future, they can always be added again.

Part of my point was exatly that they are not released on CD, only as downloads. Really it makes no difference in the officialness of the release, but I may be a bit old fashioned in my view that it takes a tiny bit of value off the release... But indeed, there are many of them, a mind boggling amount in fact.

And i think, just because they are more a memory for the people that went to that concert, there wont be a big market for these downloads. We should add them by demand.

"EPs, singles" and "Demos, promos, other releases", in my opinion, would look good. Fan club stuff would go to the latter. Just my idea.

I also think that those Metallica "official bootlegs" would be added by demand (if someone wants to review etc.)

Yeah, the adding by demand scheme seems good for things like that; keeping the page updated would be tedious as hell, not to mention it would make looking for a real live CD difficult if its bookended by 40 download only albums.

If you intend to document the entire discography of a band then all demos, singles, flex-discs, acetates, promos, fan-club issues, official bootlegs, cassettes, downloads and all variants inbetween have to be taken into account. If the site policy is to only cherry-pick the albums you like then carry on.

Ok people, i'm deleting the livemetallica releases. If demand gets high, they will be added again.
