Now it is essential. If we don't have it, I will tell M@X that I'm leaving this site for good!

Well, I would upload a photo of myself like in PA, but my PC is broken and I am using my brother's laptop. The images he has here don't help a bit: hip hot and rap aren't my cup of tea, you know . . . But I may think of something sooner or later.

I go by Stooge here and on PA for the sake of simplicity. My real name is Dan.
I did decide to go with a different avatar. I've been listening to King Diamond and Mercyful Fate a bit lately (listened to "Them" last night), so I figured I'd make an appropriate avatar selection.

I rather think that there are too many PA members joining this site and being none too subtle about proclaiming their prog affiliation. This site is not for pseudo metal-heads , it is for real metal-heads. Prog is to metal as the song "Kung-Fu Fighting" is to martial arts.

I was a metal fan before I was a prog fan; however, I suspect that you are right. Once the true metal heads show up to this site I will probably find myself crawling back to the prog site. I don't really care all that much for modern day metal. It is mostly far too extreme for my tastes. I'm just not into the the death and black metal vocals/growls.

I don't like growling, but I do like a good grunt. I'd like to set up a really extreme metal band with a real pig vocalist who would sing for sausages (tofu sausages since I'm an evil vegan). I'd be the axeman in a metal chastity belt with a real axe, a battle axe destroying any chance at musicality. No one would be hurt of course, but it would be quite a spectacle.
At a certian otjher site I'm a prog fan, but here I plan to be a true metal-head. I have to learn the lingo a bit and be careful not to overdo it.. Already much of the music I listened to sounds wimpy and far too "nice". Nothing wrong with liking Prog, of course, but I hope that others aren't put off if there is too much obvious PA influence, and if it seems like a PA adjunct, -- PA should stand for Poison Anthrax here.

Hey guyz. It's Ian aka Dim.
New name is yet another Cult of Luna reference.
Where are the sludge/post metal groups going to be classified? If you dont mind me suggesting, I think there should be a genre all their own, cause Doom metal wont fit for a bunch of them.

As for Mr. Plainview's musings: I spent a good many years listening to metal only. And while I'm limited to the non-growling part of it as what I like, I'm still a metalhead. Getting to see Celtic Frost live before they disbanded again a few years back was a great experience ;-)

same here I suppose... though for me music is music. After years on PA's... sorry... what is left there on that forum to discuss or do. This, for me at least, is a new frontier.. I think I can say I know prog pretty damn well and racked up a sh*tload of posts talking about prog every which way and back.
time for something different for me... I love certain types of metal but wouldn't consider myself an expert by any stretch of the word. It's refreshing if you know what I mean Scott.

^I know what both of you meen and my perspective is like this, i look at PA as probably the best forum comunity related to music (and general) and much of the reason for that is the members tthere, the admins, the collabs and the society.
I don't only see PA as prog site but aslo a Prgressive site, how things are handeld there is Unique, braking bounderies, highly fresh (event though it's getting harder and harder to make new origenal topics, polls and questions without toughing old ground),
I think it is a privledge for PA's to be involved in creating a new site, this is our baby, a ababy with sharper teeth, sharper tounge and stronger fits. but. i think it is a good idea to bring out this concept and I dont see it as a bad thing for the most prolific PA members to be enthusiastic with this new site, and are willing to help it (even though it looks like som Imperialistic invation it is with good intention) ofcourse there is bound to come more metalheads here but they will look up to us and to PA for guidence and since it is the parrent, the queen bee, the matron etcetra.
|

i also think the humoristic tone in PA is top notch, somtimes I have problems breathing gsping for air and so on, and humur is good it keeps the forum fresh and lite.
AND WHY SHOULD ALL METALPAGES BEE THE SAME WYE CANT METAL MUSIC ARCHIVES BE LIGHTER IN TONE THEN LATS SAY METAL METAL ENCYCLOPEDIA, OR OTHER SITE LETS THIS PAGE BE A REFRESHMENT like A JUICE. NOT like VINEGAR.
