just wondering, since they have some heavy songs, some borderline funk-metal, and i think they are very integral to the style of funk metal, as much as Primus and Faith No More,

should they be included in MMA, or are they a controversial addition to MMA,

what say yeah

Personally I wouldnt mind them in hard rock (at least some of their stuff), but ʹm not an expert outside the "hits", so someone with a little bit more in depth knowledge of the bands disco would probably be better to ask.

i would say that they were teh first funky alternative rock/metal band that lead to Primus, Faith No More and finaly to Rage Against the Machine, (and krrmt Korn, Deftones,Tool (to some extent),

i would listen to their first three very psychadelica funk/metal/rock/funk rap/ albums, they even have some fusion on the first album

also their album artwork would freshen up the site

Do you want us to take a look or wait until your poll has concluded first Chris?

I just made want some opininons and made a poll to know more peoples opinions about a suggestion that might be a bit of a stretch, but a totaly insane suggestion but a daring one.

if some think they are related to metal then vote yes, if they are integral part of one or ceveral metal subs then vote yes, but if they are nnot metal at all i would not ched a tear but i would not mind them being here at all

I remember months back being asked if they were appropriate to be added to alt metal.  While they occasionally get heavy at times, from my limited knowledge of their albums (though have heard many of their singles), I didn't think they had enough metal in their sound or have a full album that could be considered metal.  I've never thought about them for hard rock though.

I'm not too familiar with them, but I'm inclined to say yes for hard rock - they were 'iffy' for alt. metal, but I think hard rock is a good idea. Thumbs Up

I voted no.  The line has to be drawn somewhere, and "hard rock" and "heavy" are far from the first things that come to mind when I listen to this band.

I don't think they are even heavy as far as funk rock goes

I'm a huge fan of the Peppers, and I'm very much opposed to their addition. I feel their entire discography has about 20 seconds of metal at the end of Higher Ground, and the hard rock moments are few and far between. What come to mind are a few distortion filled choruses like in Dani California, but the early output is just pounding funk rock. (It took me a while to realize that I'd written "fuck rock", which is very true as well, of course).

If they end up being added, I'd say only Mother's Milk should be labeled hard rock or alternative metal. That album has a pretty metallic guitar tone, thanks to the producer who wouldn't let John Frusciante play his own way.

Mother's Milk is actually the only RHCP album I own and know in its entirety.  If that's their heaviest album, then I don't think they'd be a fit.

I agree they don't fit, just wanted to see what people where thinking, not to argue that the band are influencual to some of the metal subgs, but they are not a metal bad and not so hard rock ether, but their stamp on alternative metal and funk metal is huge, but should not be added,

this was marly a test to see where the site stands,
