Why is Cynic listed as Death metal instead of prog or jazz metal (ok, ok, jazz metal is nog a genre here Wink)?

Well the first album is arguably death metal at its core even though there are lots of fusion elements in the music. Traced in Air still have traces of death metal ( not many though) and could be tagged as progressive metal IMO. On MMA its possible to tag albums individually.

Nice, that's a feature we lack on PA. I reckon the forthcoming EP will contain even less Death and more jazz.

Yes and if that one is tagged progressive metal too the balance will tip so that Cynic is callled progressive metal but still appear in both progressive metal and death metal because of Focus. Pretty cool IMO.

Does the PROG METAL team wants to tag TRACED IN AIR as prog ?

I agree, Cynic is progrwessive metal, not death metal. Traced in Air (awesome album) is definitely not death.
