^^^Very nice, I was talking to Raff about that album earlier today.
She said she was interested in listening to it.
This one is a beast:

This album is immense. Nile managed to get a production here that captured their every note without detracting at all from their pure brutality. It is a work of pure class

I gave it a 5/5 in one of my first reviews. It has potential, that's for sure.

My top five:
The Berzerker - Animosity
Cradle of Filth - Cruelty and the Beast
Gorgoroth - Antichrist
My Dying Bride - The Dreadful Hours
Sigh - Hangman's Hymn
If you count Salvation by Cult of Luna as Extreme Metal then put that in between Cruelty and the Beast and Antichrist.

I love that album but does anyone here besides me actually think Ithyphallic is Nile's greatest album? I've never talked to anyone who agrees with me on that

I might be with you, although I'm not entirely sure. I still don't know the early albums well enough. But at least I think that Ithyphallic beats Annihilation.

Nile never clicked with me and Ive tried several times with several albums. Annihilation was the one that went down the best with me, but I will give them a chance again when I get to writing some reviews of their albums.
So top extreme metal albums of all time for me would be something like this:

Their early albums are good, but Black Seeds of Vengeance is pretty poor for a Nile release. I recieved Those Whom the Gods Detest in the mail yesterday, I've been told it's amazing. I can't wait to hear it!

Love to see some Nile appreciation here Great band, my personal favourite is Annihilation also...
Well I'm gonna list a few now, no particular order at all:
From Enslavement to Obliteration - Napalm Death Nihility - Decapitated Pierced from Within - Suffocation Inhale / Exhale - Nasum Prowler in the Yard - Pig Destroyer Human - Death Extreme Conditions Demand... - Brutal Truth Legion - Deicide Unquestionable Presence - Atheist Focus - Cynic Obscura - Gorguts Crimson - Edge of Sanity Symphonies of Sickness - Carcass Elvenefris - Lykathea Aflame De Profundis - Vader World Downfall - Terrorizer
I think that covers enough for today

Personally I think:
Is much more cohesive and interesting. Also the all important drumming is much better - Kolias may be faster but he doesn't do the sweet fills and catchy beats that Tony does.

If this album is not extreme:
I'm Britney Spears.
But since:
is extreme...
...I'm not Britney Spears!!!

Interesting list... From what I remenber... Because heavy metal in general for so long was that I put into oblivion... But then some truths to the surface!

It makes Slayer look (or rather sound) like Britney Spears.

Some of my extreme favourites are Carcass/Reek of putrifaction, Venom/Welcome to hell, Unseen terror/Human error, Autopsy/Severed survival. Most extreme is Napalm death with the Peel sessions, from:Grind madness at the BBC.

Demilich single-handedly got me into Death Metal. Their music is just a twisted as the song titles. I need to expatiate on their brilliance one day.

Yeah it's a pretty unique and interesting take on death metal.
I don't get why most death metal bands insist on being boring and generic instead of trying something new.
