Still teh old-school.  Bolt Thrower, Nocturnus, and the rest trump out the other genres.  Even the modern versions of this style are really awesome, especially Funebrarum.

Probably progressive.  But maybe that's just because most of the death metal I've listened to is progressive death metal.
