Not sure if it would really help to reduce all of the spamming that goes on on this site, but I've seen other websites use the CAPTCHA feature on it in order to sign up for the website. In theory, this is supposed to make it more difficult for Spambots to spam the website. I'm not sure if it would help or not, but it is kind of ridiculous to come to this site and see 10 users logged in and 9 of them are spammers.

We already do. Spam bots can get around that system.

One thing that often works well is some sort of question requiring thought to answer. Something simple like "what does MMA stand for?" or "are you a robot?" or an easy math question. Preferably something directly related to the site. Maybe "what genre of music is this forum about?"
we need SOMETHING to weed them out, this is ridiculous

I think we can all agree that the amount of SPAM in the last half year or so have been absolutely ridiculous and we are in dialogue with the owners on solving the problem (among other issues with the site). Its taking much longer than anyone have expected and were all frustrated about it, but hopefully something will happen in the near future.
Rest assure that we (the admin team) are doing what we can to make the webmasters aware of the seriousness of the situation...this cannot continue...

JMA and PA are not plagued by spam like MMA. Something must be made.

On PA new users need a certain number of posts before they can make new threads

Weve done that here too, but certain areas are left open like the Welcome newbie thread and suggest a new artist. Its pretty unwelcoming if a newbie cant even announce his arrival.

But do we have a feedback? Graphix and M@x said something about this?

They say theyre working on it. Were holding them up to that...

If they can get around captcha, then maybe the other system with moving the button manually in order to prevent bots from registering would work? It's usually used to protect links and I have no idea if that could be implemented into the registration process, but maybe it's worth a try?

If you're talking about the same thing I'm thinking of I believe I read not so long ago that bots can get around that as well. In any case only Max and Phil can edit the registration process. The only things that the rest of us admins can do have already been done. We are now playing the same waiting game as everyone else and let me tell you, we are getting extremely cheesed off about the situation ourselves.

M@X has been in contact with the admin team recently. Unfortunately we still cannot give a definite answer about when these things will be fixed. He has at least acknowledged that the issues exist now though.
