It's very hard to decide because there are so many brilliant ones here and yes there are lot more but who do you like best?

All that is over. Today, I know how to celebrate beauty.

It boiled down between Jason Becker and Steve Vai for me. Academically, it should have gone to Steve Vai, in terms of innovation, progression and sheer volume of output. But, as we know that would be an unfair comparison, so judging with the heart only, it goes to Jason Becker.

Perpetual Burn is my favorite shred album ever (and I like quite a few) and Perspective has moments that bring me to my knees, like the amazing End of the Beginning.

I've only listened to about 1/4 of these, but Vai can play circles around all of them. But when I think of "neoclassical shredding", I think of Malmsteen.

Michael Romeo

Yeah, I know that Vai, and probably some of the others are technically better, but I'd rather listen to Romeo.

It´ll always be Steve Vai for me. He is untouchable. I´ve seen him twice live and he is on FIRE. Unfortunately his music sometimes bores me as with most instrumental shredders...and no it´s not better when he decides to sing Angry. Please don´t sing Steve...let others do it for you...like Devin (umh yummiiiii)

If I'd seen this earlier I'd have thrown a vote in for Patrick Rondat. Amphibia is a very nice album!
