these are some of my favourite thrash metal albums (I'm sure there are more but that might be another poll ). Vote for your favourite (if any), tough choice or not .
Have fun!

I don't know all of these albums, but Master Of Puppets is certainly one of my all-time favorite albums so to this my vote goes.

Ugh, tough one!
Just for kicks, I'd go with Tankard's Kings of Beer, but I guess I'll cast my vote for South of Heaven.

Only heard the ones by Megadeth, Slayer, Flotsam and Metallica, the latter is clearly the favourite.

It was a close call with Rust in Peace and South of Heaven but Master of Puppets it is.

"Master of Puppets" for me - not necessarily because it is better than the other one on the list (I mean "Rust in Peace", "The American Way", "Horrorscope", "South of Heaven", and "Act III" are all masterpieces for my money), but "Master of Puppets" was, along with "...And Justice for All" one of the first thrash metal albums to really make an impression on me.
If I could choose more, then I would have voted for "The American Way" and "Rust in Peace" , too. Also, there are a lot of thrash metal albums that I count among my favorites, which are not on your list, such as:
Nuclear Assault: "Handle With Care" Metallica: "...And Justice for All" Megadeth: "Peace Sells ... but Who's Buying?" Invocator: "Weave the Apocalypse" Invocator: "Dying to Live" Slayer: "Christ Illusion" Slayer: "God Hates Us All" Sepultura: "Arise" Exodus: "Fabulous Disaster" Annihilator: "Never Neverland" Xentrix: "For Whose Advantage?" Artillery: "By Inheritance" Artillery: "When Death Comes" Forbidden: "Forbidden Evil" Pantera: "Cowboys from Hell" Pantera: "Vulgar Display of Power" Suicidal Tendencies: "Lights... Camera... Revolution" Swashbuckle: "Back to the Noose" Testament: "First Strike Still Deadly" [I really like hearing the rerecorded thrash metal classics with an updated and crisp production]

^Rarely do I see anyone value Christ Illusion and God Hates Us All higher than their classics, I don't either but I don't think they get the respect they deserve Christ Illusion is a really solid album and God Hates Us All has many quality tracks, such as Disciple, which may be my favourite Slayer track and my all time favourite air drumming track from any band

I never cared much for God Hates Us All but I agree that Christ Illusion is a pretty strong album. Nothing like my three favorites of course ( Reign in Blood, South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss), but still a good album.

well, I didn't want to repeat the band, just one album per band, i thought. of course i like all 80s Metallica and Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss and Reign n Blood. It's not a perfect list, I wish I could put in some Kreator, but it's hard to choose.
I'm sorry i forgot about Annihilator's Never Neverland; next poll...

Ah. Also it's true most feel MoP is Metallica's high point. Obviously I love that album but AJFA is my personal favorite.
And Reign in Blood may not be the "best" when it comes to thrash, you can't top that beast.

Well "Master" - "Rust" - "South" are great albums but because none of us gives a vote to Testament my vote goes to "Souls"

Just because they're not classics doesn't mean they suck.

I can't change my vote but i see it right now. Sanctuary "Into The Mirror Black"! Great album but Thrash Metal? I think of Sanctuary more as a Power Metal band than Thrash!

it's got a pretty thrashy sound, what's power metal about them?

If you ask me both Sanctuary and Nevermore are US power metal/ thrash metal hybrids. A rare breed and thats why they are so great IMO.

I think that somehow you are right ... But
i remember when they released their first album (I'm talking about "Refuge Denied") most of us classifying them more as Power Metal than a Thrash Metal band. To be precise we say that sometimes sounded like power metalers and sometimes like thrasers who lower their speed. Anyway my friend we talk about a great band and this is the most important.

thanks for mentioning Tankard; I've given them a chance and started listening to full length albums (which i never did before). Great fun, metal band, a lot of humor, funny cover works. I haven't heard Kings of Beer yet. Soon.

I like all of your choices though. As much as I'm a total Megadeth freak I am no Metalli-basher, I love all good thrash.

My vote would have gone to either Artillery's By Inheritance, Kreator's Coma of Souls, or Sepultura's Schizophrenia.
But I chose the Flotsam and Jetsam one.

Uhnnn! Poll difficult this, huh? Chose Master of Puppets by Metallica was the first band I heard as a teenager, when I came to admire the thrash metal. The complex measures, the marriage between the instruments and the voice of James are perfect, I consider a landmark for the time. But I came to love Rust In Peace by Megadeth and consider a weight fighter. I do not decry the other bands and the other albums that are also very good. Exodus include the list, great band (Exhibit B and Time of the Damned say so)!

I'm thinking to make another poll in order to do justice to some bands I listen to that haven't made it into this poll - like Kreator, Sodom, Annihilator, Suicidal tendencies, Exodus, Forbidden, Coroner and even Tankard to name a few.

If I had two votes, The American Way would probably get my second vote, seeing that it was an album I listened extensively to in my younger days. It's not as fierce as Ignorance, but it's still a very important thrash metal album to me.
