We all know that the trad. metal band, Black Sabbath, has had two great leaders.
I want to see what you guys think on who made the band better in more ways than the other. Big smile

Because in metal everything is either Black or White LOL Ozzy for me although I greatly respect Dio and enjoy all three Sabbath studio albums he contributed to.

I love Dio, but Ozzy made Black Sabbath for me.

I agree that Dio is a great musician, but I think Ozzy is much more memorable, and is the one I remember the most.

Dio all the way.

Heaven And Hell & Mob Rules are far better than any albums Ozzy was on.

With Ozzy Sabbath sounded truly original, with Dio they were more like any other heavy metal band. Only better than most.

Both are brilliant frontmen (and I'll always respect the hell out of the fact that Dio scored five star albums with three different bands: Rising, Heaven & Hell and Holy Diver) but I'm sure both would agree that Sabbath has always had only one leader, and his name is Tony Iommi. Wink

Never dug the Dio albums as much, but I don't know how much that had to do with vocals

I just think that comment is a little ridiculous. Ozzy with Sabbath is quite possibly the best and most influential band that there is in Metal. Don't get me wrong I love Dio with Sabbath but that's a bit of a stretch in my opinion

Even though Mob Rules is my favorite Sabbath album, I agree that they aren't FAR better. I like most of Sabbaths albums equally Smile

I wouldn't really know how to answer this question as it was made.  As a singer, I like Dio much better, and I guess I like the sound of the albums with him a bit better too.  But I sort of like more songs from the Ozzy era, though mostly on the versions from the Reunion live album.  However, I don't really know how much of the music on either era is the responsability of Ozzy and Dio, or how much is the responsability of Tony and the rest of the band.
