Might have gone with DT if it was "Change Of Seasons" (that is 15 minutes right ?) but i'm happy to vote for Green Carnation here.

Block, that avy is pure win!
While my pick from this list was Black Lake Nidstang, the best 15+ min metal song IMO is The Odyssey, by Symphony X. Surprise right? ![]() Though this is a great list. Black Rose Immortal, I, Crimson...all brilliant. I really like all the songs here except The Prolonging and LoD, DoD and I've never heard those ![]() Edited by The Angry Scotsman - 11 Jul 2011 at 9:01pm |

For me Crimson by Edge of Sanity. Light of Day, Day of Darkness, Second Life Syndrome and Octavarium are also great. The rest I do not know and the PT tune I dont like. |

From this list, either Crimson or I, but where the hell is The Odyssey (by Symphony X)?

. . . and so I heard the darkness that seeped through my ears with tar entering my soul with its bitterness in the wake of benevolent depressionistic painted starkness. . . . Jeez, I like Celtic Frost but (Thomas Warrior)Fischer has gone into "None more Black" territory that makes me want to paint my walls in charcoal black! Not something I'd listen to on a regular basis as sometimes music can suck the air out of the room (and me!). Most of the time I need music as a "Light" because my Job is usually creative and I need to be on my game, and sometimes the work can be tedious . . . the mood I'm in as of now with this work . . . I'd take a stage dive onto a Stake ![]() Dark music can be really creative and musical, but for me, that kind of starkness can be very depressive and my life needs "life" right now. -No disrespect to those who like Triptykon. . . . Usually I'm not creating Hieronymus Bosch type paintings ![]() Now Agalloch- This was a bit more easy to listen to, with its familiar sounds of Arcturus, Ulver, and the like. But again, I have to be in a mood to listen to this type of Metal, though I like it very much. Music is something I take pretty seriously and is a "Mood setter" and usually I'm doing my Art and listening to music, as it may help in the creative process. So sometimes it depends what I'm drawing-that will dictate what I need to hear. But saying all that, Agalloch has some beautiful atmospheric parts throughout ![]() |

That list is too hard!
![]() Yes there are plenty more but man, been thinking about it for awhile and cant decide ![]() The only 2 I dont know at all are: Agalloch Triptykon . . . but have "heard" of them. |

Light of Day, Day of Darkness from the list. I'm a big of both PT and Riverside but for me Anesthetize and Second Life Syndrome I don't consider metal, but prog.
