The Book of Souls

Now it's here and we've probably all heard it. So how is it? 

I listen in chunks as it´s such a long album, and I´ve therefore only really formed an opinion on the first four tracks, of which it´s only Speed of Light, which has made a really positive impression yet. If Eternity Should Fail has it´s moments too, but quite frankly I found both The Great Unknown and The Red and the Black a Little overlong and boring. The former has too much high end vocals (which somehow annoy my ears), and not enough breathers where there aren´t vocals (the vocal melodies aren´t that strong either), and the latter features some very generic and unremarkable riffing and no memorable vocal lines. ´

I can't really pick a favorite track off that album. They're all great. It's a great album overall.

Too early to tell for me, though some great stuff on here. I'm only on my second listen but will no doubt form a stronger opinion soon.

Empire of the Clouds for me. I've always wondered what a near-20 minute epic from Maiden would sound like, and now I know -- fucking great!
